Our experience is an educational tour to learn about the culture of mezcal and all the tradition that surrounds it.
We will begin our trip starting from the center of the city of Oaxaca and we will visit the towns of Mitla and Matatlán. There we will take a walking tour through our majestic agave fields with thousands of specimens, where we will be able to learn more about this plant, as well as having enough time to do a couple of activities and of course the best photographs.
Then we will continue to an artisan mezcal distillery to learn step by step, the entire artisan process of making our drink. At the end of the tour, we will have an unlimited tasting of different varieties of mezcal.
Finally, we will share a traditional Oaxacan meal at a local restaurant, already included, and of course, More Mezcal!

Travel one hour south from Oaxaca to check out the field, and experience the mezcal making process. Lastly, get to enjoy some Mexican food in a small town.

Experience was amazing! Tasted over 10 Mezcals. We got a chance to walk where they plant the mezcals. The guide explained in detail how the mezcal process is done and how it is similar but also different to tequila. Our group was small but we bonded enough to get to know each other a bit. All in all worth every second

If you are really interested, this is a good option. Pros: A van of 10 people. Our guide Karen was excellent in every way. Knowledgeable, friendly, accessible. The full experience from field to your cup. The included lunch (at 3:30) was decent. Cons: Took us to the same producer that everyone else goes, including the party bus shaped as a barrel. To get there we passed literally dozens of smaller ones. It was artisanal in the same way Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada are craft beers. Yes, they follow the procedures, but at the highest end of production to qualify, with a big export business to the US. So the 10 of us were with many others, but did a good job of keeping the groups from colliding.

Very good, good Service and food, very good explanation of the whole process. It's great. As a recommendation for improvement, only they have to improve the subject of communication on buses, perhaps use a microphone and bus speakers. Since the guide had difficulty hearing because the air conditioning was too high and did not allow the explanations given by the guide to be heard in the back of the bus.

From the booking to the end of the tour everything was easy and not complicated. We had the best tour guide, Karen, who was extremely knowledgeable about mezcal and the area. We learned so much about the intricate process of making this traditional spirit. The tasting was so much fun and we learned what we liked and didn’t like about the different types of Mezcal. The meal in Mitla was very good with a variety of authentic Oaxaca foods. This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip to Oaxaca!
