The Narrows is an iconic hike in Zion National Park. We will be hiking from the Temple of Sinawava along the riverside walk, then into the Virgin River for approximately 2 miles upstream. The towering cliffs, handing gardens, and springs provide excellent photo opportunities. We will hike as far as the Orderville Canyon, before returning along the same route to the Temple of Sinawava. Though there is not much elevation gain on this hike, it is challenging to forge upstream while navigating large submerged river stones. We will enjoy a charcuterie board picnic on the beautiful grassy lawn of the Zion Lodge.

The guide Michael was excellent. He never rushed us or made anyone feel as though they didn’t belong. He knew the nuances of the Narrows in a way that made it easier and enjoyable. It was the little things that made the difference, such as avoiding areas where other trekkers were struggling. It sometimes was a matters of only a few feet, but it made rhe difference. He knowledge of the geology, fauna and flora was great. He also accommodated our dietary needs, preparing some food from scratch. His equipment was great and made the trek easier.

The Narrows was definitely by far the highlight of our entire Utah vacation!! DJ was our private guide, and the experience would not have been anywhere close to as good without him!! Like a pro, he maneuvered himself effortlessly through the cannon as he guided my family of 3 on a 7 hour long hike through the river’s rocky path! And, he definitely challenged us exactly as much as we were hoping!! Evident that he loved his job, he shared all kinds of interesting facts about our surroundings, drew out attention to things we wouldn’t have noticed, and guided us safety through various river crossings giving us a much needed heads up every now and then along the way to keep us safe! The pictures and videos he took of us in action were awesome, and I cherished most the videos he took while we were attempting the toughest tho most fun parts of the river!! Wow!! At one point, he pulls out a charcuterie board from his insulated backpack, and he sets up various cheeses and meats!!! Where did that come from?? lol!! I assumed it would be something we’d do once we got back!! And what a nice touch that was right in the middle of such beauty!! I still have to pull up images of hover flies, DJ!!! 😉. Don’t miss this experience!! The difficultly or lack there of is seemingly tailored to your expectations!! You can’t go wrong and you end up with the most beautiful pictures of your party while you all immerse yourselves in nature’s beauty together!! What are you waiting for!!! Thanks again DJ!! We’ll be back to see you again no doubt with two more next time!!

We had an amazing experience with our guide Michael - the Narrows was easily one of the best hikes of our lifetimes! Michael was very organized, personable, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the area, the hike, the park, the history, flora and fauna, and every nook and cranny of the Narrows itself. His gear and preparation were top notch - we were so thankful for the high quality water shoes and sticks. We had five stars in our heads half way through and then we stopped for lunch and he pulled out this beautiful, delicious cheese and charcuterie board to enjoy. The Narrows was a bucket list hike for us and we wanted it to be just right. With Michael as our guide, we got to jump in and go, worry free, and it made for an amazing experience!
