We had an enriching experience on The Old City Tour in Astana with our family. The tour offered a fascinating glimpse into the city's history, taking us beyond its modern, futuristic architecture and into its cultural heart. Our guide was incredibly informative and made the journey through Astana’s old city come alive with stories and historical context. We explored the traditional and Soviet-era buildings, which provided a contrast to the city's iconic contemporary structures. Visiting landmarks like the Old Mosque and the Central Concert Hall gave us a deeper understanding of Astana’s roots and its development over the years. One of the highlights of the tour was seeing the blend of cultures in the old city – a reflection of Kazakhstan’s rich history and diversity. The slower pace of the tour allowed us to really appreciate the details, with plenty of time to stop, take photos, and explore the local area. The tour also included a visit to local markets and charming streets, where we got a sense of daily life in the city and even had the chance to interact with locals. It was a great experience for our family, providing a perfect mix of history, culture, and personal interaction. Overall, The Old City Tour in Astana was a memorable way to explore the deeper, more traditional side of the city. It was well-paced, informative, and gave us a new appreciation for Astana's fascinating history and cultural evolution. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience a different, more historical side of Kazakhstan’s capital.

Coming from England, it made me smile when I was was told that I would see some "really old" buildings on this tour..."over 100 years old" ! But I guess it's all relative! But the tour gave me a great insight into the history of this fascinating country, and I'm extremely glad that I did it. Kamila's English was brilliant, and her knowlede excellent, about everything from the pre-Russian era through to modern day. I especially loved the street where there was an example of Russian-Empire-time, Soviet and then Independence architecture all next to each other. Well worth doing.

I’ll start off with my rocky start with a taxi driver scamming me even with knowing how much the average cost of a ride from the airport to my apartment would’ve been by using Yandex.Taxi and inDriver (the latter let’s you test before using) so what should’ve been a 500 Tenge ride on average at that time of night soon turned into 30,000 tenge. I said fine only because the taxi driver had said 5000 tenge and after flying for two days straight (time zones included) I just wanted to sleep in my apartment. However the taxi had someone follow us to make sure I paid more. However after my first few nights of talking to the locals and sight seeing I met one of Zhanel’s friends who introduced me to her. From the start she was very helpful and even helped me with the police about the taxi driver, I eventually got my money back due to Zhanel helping me. Zhanel has been very helpful and informative of the region and knows her stuff and history of the area. I had told her about wanting to visit Alzhir and she offered to take me there and give a history on the memorial. If you wish to have professional service, helpful and courteous people, but even people who you will for sure become friends with. I will definitely recommend coming back to Kazakhstan in general, but also to use this service ))
