Founded in 2012, we are the original Harry Potter tour in Edinburgh. Our guides have the most experience of any tour company in Edinburgh and we are consistently rated most highly by visitors across all platforms.
Booking a private tour with us will ensure the ultimate experience for Harry Potter fans as you'll be able to take the tour at your own pace and ask as many questions as you like!

We are also happy to customise this tour to suit you! We take on lots of bookings for hen parties and school groups and our guides are skilled at catering the tour content for any audience.

What To Expect
Greyfriars
We begin our tour in the city's historic Greyfriars Kirkyard where JK Rowling spent a lot of time while writing the books. Here we'll see several names on gravestones that inspired characters in the series including William McGonagall and Thomas Riddell. From here we will also see two potential inspirations for Hogwarts in the form of George Heriot's School and Edinburgh Castle.
An area of the city named after Harry Potter? Surely not! See the place where she wrote much of the first book from here.

5.00The tour was, in a few words, fun, informative, and beautiful. It is evident that a great deal of work goes on behind the scenes, and yet during the trail Charlie explained everything seamlessly and in a wonderfully dynamic way. It felt magical ;) I was also in contact with Roisin, who was every bit as helpful and kind as Charlie. It’s perfect for Harry Potter fans and non-fans alike, and it's prepared for both adults and children. Simply put: it was a fantastic experience that I would recommend without hesitation to absolutely anyone. A must-do if you're visiting Edinburgh! 5.00Charlie was phenomenal! He was very engaging and stepped into the persona of a wizard! He walked us through old town and we got to see a lot of J K Rowling’s inspiration for the books. We spent 75 minutes on the tour. Highly recommend and great for all ages!

5.00Definitely worth going on this tour! Charlie was a fantastic tour guide. Really engaging and our kids (12,11 & (almost) 7) loved it. Very enjoyable for us parents too. We would highly recommend potter fans take this tour. Our kids wanted to leave some words of review ‘Charlie really knows his stuff and he is the GOAT’……’The spell charlie taught us really works!!’ ‘Speak up to get those house points!’

Even my aunt and grandmother who had never read the books loved learning about the inspiration behind Harry Potter and have since read a book and watched a movie! 5.00We had a great hour and half with the enthusiastic and knowledgeable Becky. The sun shone and we were taken around the spots that inspired JK Rowling to write. Becky was really friendly and included everyone as we walked around. This tour is great even if you are not a die hard Potter fan a there are lots of other fun facts to learn about Edinburgh itself. Thoroughly recommended!
