Founded in 2012, we are the original Harry Potter tour in Edinburgh. Our guides have the most experience of any tour company in Edinburgh and we are consistently rated most highly by visitors across all platforms.

What To Expect
Greyfriars
We begin our tour in the city's historic Greyfriars Kirkyard where JK Rowling spent a lot of time while writing the books. Here we'll see several names on gravestones that inspired characters in the series including William McGonagall and Thomas Riddell. From here we will also see two potential inspirations for Hogwarts in the form of George Heriot's School and Edinburgh Castle.
An area of the city named after Harry Potter? Surely not! See the place where she wrote much of the first book from here.

Our guide - Wizard Sam did an incredible job bringing the story and locations to life, weaving in fascinating details and anecdotes that made everything feel magical. His storytelling made it feel like stepping right into the world of Harry Potter, with clever links between the books, films, and real‑life spots along the trail. The pace was just right, with a great balance of walking, interesting facts, and light‑hearted humour. What stood out most was how inclusive and accessible Sam made the tour, keeping both fans and non‑fans fully engaged from start to finish. My husband went in knowing very little about Harry Potter and left genuinely inspired to finally watch the films, which says everything about how good Sam was. Highly recommended!

5.00This tour was absolutely the best! My mom and I are Harry Potter fans and the tour guide did not disappoint. This is something that you MUST do while in Scotland. If I am every lucky enough to go back to Scotland I would take this again. Very entertaining and so much fun!

5.00This was definitely the most fun walking tour I've ever been on! Becky is a great tour guide who explained everything perfectly, and she also added some interesting information for people who aren't Harry Potter fans. I would recommend this tour to anyone!

She explained everything HP related, added a lot of other bits of information to make it interesting even for those that are not necessarily fans of the franchise. The tour was well paced, easily walkable even though it's through a graveyard. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
