On this 3-hour Street Food Tour, you’ll discover the real Ortigia—through its flavors, hidden corners, and local stories.
Vegetarian options available!
We’ll start like true locals: with a refreshing Sicilian iced coffee.
Then head to the oldest bakery in town to try what I believe is the best Arancino in Siracusa—made fresh every morning.
We’ll walk through quiet alleys, the fishermen’s square, and corners most visitors never reach.
At the market, you’ll taste capuliato, baked ricotta, pistachio salami, almond pastries, pistachio cream, and—depending on the season—Pachino tomatoes or prickly pears.
Then we’ll meet my extended family of cheesemakers and enjoy ricotta, mozzarella, and the best panino of your life.
We’ll finish with a fresh fruit granita from Ortigia’s most traditional gelateria.
See the island through local eyes. I'd love to share its flavors and stories with you.

Piazza Archimede
We will start from Archimedes Square, in front of the beautiful Diana Fountain, which represents the goddess of hunting and was considered the city's protector by the Greeks. From here, we will venture out to explore the island, seeking new flavors and aromas, immersing ourselves as locals rather than tourists.
We will then proceed along Via Roma, one of the most charming and beautiful streets on the island of Ortigia. We'll sample the coffee that us locals enjoy here. Naturally, as true Italians, we start the day with coffee. However, for those who don't drink it, there will be an alternative option available.
Bottled water
Snacks
Lunch
Coffee and/or Tea
I provide street food without alcoholic beverages. However, if desired, visitors can purchase beer or a glass of wine from the local market, but these options are not included in the food's price.

Dario is a superb guide & he is a local with a passion to share his knowledge and love of his hometown. He showed us his Ortigia; his connections on the island enabled us to taste the best authentic and delicious food and his stories gave us the opportunity to learn about Ortigia's history & culture. All the places we visited made us feel very welcome too. This tour was such fun and the perfect way to be introduced fully to the island of Ortigia. Top tip: don't eat breakfast if you want to enjoy all the food tastings!

Expect a wonderful history and food tour! These were 4 hours full of interesting, informative details you would miss out on just walking around on your own. Dario was full of infectious energy and because he is from here, he knows so much about Ortigia and really gave us an important history lesson behind why things are the way they are. The local restaurants and vendors were all wonderful and accommodating and the food was pure goodness!!! Tours like these are why travel is essential for life.

We joined Dario’s food tour as a family of three (my wife, our daughter and myself), and although I am usually the foodie of the group, we all truly loved it. We spent five days in Syracuse and did the tour at the very beginning of our stay, which turned out to be perfect because we already felt a bit familiar with the city afterwards. What made it so special was Dario himself: his stories about the island, his friendly connections with the locals, and the way he made us feel like part of a big Sicilian family, even though we were only visitors for a day. The food and tastings were absolutely delicious, varied, and genuinely local. This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip and I can warmly recommend it to anyone visiting Syracuse.

One of the best food tours we've been on! Dario was a friendly, knowledgeable and funny guide. It was the perfect combination of information, food and fun! The paninis were hands down the best sandwiches we've had in Italy
