  I've done some cool things in my life but this ranks up there in my top 3 EVER!! The crew was amazing. Thanks Joe, Ryan and T-roy (Troy lol) you three were terrific tour guides. We had a lovely lunch and there was a warm shower to rinse off after the snorkel. Half of our group did the manta dive and half of us did the snorkel. They were so accommodating, friendly and helpful. The seas were a bit rough, but Joe was a rockstar maneuvering our board around so we could see the mantas. It's an experience I will never forget. So majestic, I felt the hand of God. There just aren't words to describe this epic adventure. We really liked having the boat to ourselves. They even handed out heated, wet towels at the end. What a decadent touch. No idea how they kept them so warm. Highly recommend this company.

  A great day with T-Roy and Nick ! You won’t regret it ! Especially if this is your 1st time in Kona , like Us . We did a private moment with our family of 4. Great snorkeling and kid friendly as our 3 and 11 year old loved it ! We got to dive into a bait ball (thousands of fish) and enjoy some great swimming. They were easy going,Flexible and beyond hospitable! They made the ride so enjoyable and care free. Also adding in some great history of the island.

  I can't say enough GREAT things about Kona Ocean Adventures and Captain Gina! They are always the absolute best. And if you're considering a private charter like we often do, you should NOT book through anyone but them. With our latest booking, there were gale force winds and many charters (believe me, I know!) would have risked it just because they don't get paid if they don't get out. But Kona Ocean Adventures will always consider not just safety but COMFORT. We were so grateful when Captain Gina called us and said we might be miserable if we went out and we were able to cancel even though we weren't able to rebook. A LOT of boats would have risked our comfort to make a fast buck. I will always book through them because I know that they truly care and want us to have the BEST experience. Mahalo, Captain Gina and Kona Ocean Adventures. We will be back!

  We took an early morning whale watching tour with Kona Ocean Adventures. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Captain Danny and First Mate were phenomenal. There knew all the right places to see whales. Knowledgeable, professional, friendly, even had a good lunch. Will definitely use them again.

  Fantastic company and crew. Hana and Fernando had us right on time and right out to the water. They put together a great itinerary for our group of 8. Right from the start we had multiple whale sightings and then went down the coast to see caves and snorkel. Great snorkel location she chose and saw tangs, many other fish and even turtles swimming by. On our way back even had some dolphins jumping out in the big water. Overall super knowledgeable crew and very gracious catering to our crowd. Only thing we didn’t get to see was a tsunami but maybe next time. Highly recommend KOA!

  This was our first time on a boat. We did a private tour. Troy and Justin were so amazing! They made sure we all had a great time and were very patient with all of us as we tried snorkeling and paddle boarding for the first time. They gave us great instructions and helped us out as 2 of us got very sea sick. This is a great tour with wonderful staff. Highly recommend!

  I booked a private charter with Kona Ocean adventures. They provided excellent cuisine, drinks, and festive dessert! They also served the guests and checked in on us. Shawn and Alexis were absolutely amazing captains. They were informative with options of where to cruise. We docked in front of one of Hawaii’s most pristine beaches. We had a magical day cruising back to our next destination into the Hawaiian sunset where we saw a mother humpback whale soaring out of the ocean from head to tail with her baby to do the same right after! We then made it to our snorkel spot with the mantas where we swam in a manta party of 7 which is rare to see this many on a trip. They have specially designed lights that only this company carries- that are made for mantas to come to you! Overall, I cannot express enough how intelligent the the Kona Oceans Adventure team is. They truly captured the spirit of aloha for me on my special day and my heart is grateful. Mahalo!

  My family and I did the private tour with Kona Ocean Adventures and it was beyond incredible. KOA is not the largest operator in the area, but they are trusted by Four Seasons Hualalai resort as their preferred operator for Manta tours particularly because they focus on enabling amazing experiences for their guests. Our captain was Alexis and our snorkeling guide was Sean and the were absolutely amazing. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable, fun and kind, but they managed to engage both our 11 y/o tween daughter and 5 y/o son and make it a family adventure we will never forget. They taught us so much about the everything we saw in a fun way that the kids (and parents!) got excited about. They shared their genuine love for the ocean and all the life it holds that will definitely influence our kids as they become adults. Alexis knew all the best spots to take and on our 4 hour trip, we managed to see dolphins, sharks and the manta rays! Almost as soon as we left the dock, Alexis navigated us to ride with a pod of spinner nose dose dolphins as they woke up and started playing and spinning! The pod rode with us for a good 5-10 minutes which was absolutely unbelievable. Next, they took us to Golden Arches for a late afternoon snorkel where the late afternoon sunlight created a magical blue that illuminated the hundreds of beautiful tropical fish that we saw. They even had a picture book that we could review and identify the fish that we saw (if Alexis or Sean didn’t already know, which they usually did). Next, we stopped by the outskirts of the kanpachi aqua farm where thanks again to Alexi’s intimate knowledge of the coastline here, we managed to see 2sharks! One sandbar and one ocean black tip shark which was about 10 feet long! I never thought I would have wanted to see a live shark in the water but Alexis and Sean made sure it was a safe and valuable experience that it ended up being one of my vacation highlights (my husband jokes that I was the first to jump into the water to see!). Next, we watched a beautiful sunset and managed to see a small “green flash” (which Sean—ever the educator) taught us how its caused (I wish my elementary school teachers had been as enthusiastic and engaging!). The grand finale to our trip was of course the nighttime manta ray snorkel, which there are no words to describe. The experience was thrilling, fun, and soul-filling at the same time. The manta’s were so beautiful and majestic, but playful and fun! Interestingly, there was a pregnant woman on a nearby tour and apparently the manta’s can sense that and so kept going to her and doing barrel rolls for her! It was almost like they were celebrating and blessing her soon to be born baby! At one point we saw 4 manta’s at once at our “surfboard float” and were able to watch several barrel rolls by the manta’s! To top off the experience, Alexis had some hot cocoa ready to warm us up. It was truly a magical experience and even though this was one to now cross off my bucket list, I’ve added it back on because I can’t imagine not experiencing that again in my life! And we will definitely try to book again with Alexis and Sean when we come back. This was truly an EPIC adventure that our family will never forget! And we are sincerely thankful to Alexis and Sean for providing us such incredible memories.

  Alexis and Sean went out of their way to make sure we had fun, were safe, and enjoyed ourselves. From rescheduling the morning of because of high swell, to visiting multiple dive sites to find the right one, to creating a great experience for all four of our divers at each site. The whole time they asked us what we wanted to do, took our feedback and made it happen. Compared to some dive shop that just led us on an underwater race to burn air and see nothing, Sean went slow, pointed out cool things and cared about us as divers. Highly recommend this for a private charter experience or any outing as they focus on making sure you are having a great time and safe. Enjoy!

  This was my second private charter to Captain Cook. The first, 15 years ago, didn’t hold a candle to this one. Although it’s a little difficult to find the boat at the harbor, from that moment on this was one of the lifetime experiences I’m so glad to have had. Captain Alexis and crewmate Sean obviously love this area, and communicated that with their enthusiasm and depth of knowledge of the history, sea-life, oceanography, and geology of the Kona coast. The snorkeling at Captain Cook was, of course, fantastic, and Sean’s guiding of us truly enhanced the experience. Alexis and Sean both made this one of our best ocean tour experiences ever.
