What To Expect
Abudelauri lakes
The hike to Abudelauri Lakes starts from the small village of Roshka, located about 3 hours' drive from Tbilisi. From Roshka, the trail gradually ascends through alpine meadows and rocky terrain, following a visible footpath surrounded by mountain peaks. The distance from Roshka to the lakes is approximately 4 kilometers one way, and the hike takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the lakes, depending on pace. The trail is moderate in difficulty, with a few steeper sections but no technical climbing required. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of the Chaukhi massif and wide open landscapes. At the end of the trail, you’ll find the three Abudelauri Lakes, each with its distinct color: green, blue, and milky white. After spending time at the lakes, the return hike follows the same path back to Roshka.

5.00Knowing that this review could make a difference to future travellers, I try to leave candid comments. I was contacted by Giga the tour operator after my initial booking for another hiking tour got cancelled. He offered me this Abudelauri tour as an alternative at a comparable rate and I was glad that I took it with no regrets. This tour stood out from the rest because it advertised for hiking in the mountains with a pro and was organised as a private tour. Indeed it felt exclusive and there were just me and 2 other guests with the guide Giorgi in the end. To accomplish this hike you have to have some strength and courage to climb to the top, as well as some basic gears like a good pair of hiking boots with good grip of the ground and slippery rocks/snow. Giorgi is a fantastic guide who could be daunting at first with his mountain ranger appearance but soon disarms you with his welcoming attitude and thorough explanation of the itinerary. He asked each of us for our hiking experience and expectations then made sure we packed all the essentials before we started. Along the way, he showed us beautiful sceneries and cared for our safety by showing us which spots to step on the slippery slopes and thick coats of fallen snow. I felt encouraged even though I ain’t very fit but still managed to cover all 3 of the Abudelauri lakes in good time and get up close with the heads of the Chaukhi mountains! I would do it again if I next visit Georgia though I would move this tour to the beginning of my trip before it gets too tiring from sightseeing in the city. A good spirit and moderate physique is required but I felt rewarded after this hike. If you encounter Georgi as your guide, consider yourself lucky!

5.00I had an amazing 5-hour hike to the three colorful white, blue, and green Abudauri lakes with expert hiker Guro. We passed by horses, sheep, and two shepherd dogs along the way. Each lake had its own charm and beauty. I enjoyed learning about the region with Guro, who was very knowledgeable of the land as well as Georgian history in general. I felt like the hike had the perfect balance of challenge, scenery, and length. I had a memorable experience today and highly recommend you go on this adventure with Guro!

5.00My hike was on the 24th of July 2024 Incredible views, i felt hugged by nature and it was a very nice break from busy life, the beautiful lush scenery with the sounds of the river streams will put your mind at ease! My guide Mamuka did an amazing job motivating me and explaining the culture and history, and i felt safe on the trail with him. i never felt bored from the moment he picked me until he dropped me off. The booking was smooth and i had all my questions and concerns answered by Giga the guide that coordinated my hike The hike might take a little longer if you are unexperienced but the reward of seeing the lakes is worth it! All in all i 100% recommend taking this hike

5.00The tour was just amazing! Guro, our guide was excellent he told us about everything in detail, was kind, helpful and a super driver at the same time. The lakes are breathtaking, especially the white one. I can only recommend this programme if you like hiking. We travelled with 2 kids (14,10 years) and they managed the distance without any difficulties.
100% recomended. Amazing landscapes
