Tiananmen Square
Your friendly guide will meet you at your Beijing hotel in the morning. During peak periods: April spring break, July–August summer vacation, Chinese Labor Day (May 1–7), National Day (October 1–7) and Spring Festival (mid-February), we will enjoy a hassle-free drive-by view of Tiananmen Square to avoid long security lines that often take 1–3 hours to enter. You’ll still get great views of all landmarks: the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, Monument to the People’s Heroes, Tiananmen Rostrum, Great Hall of the People, and National Museum of China. We provide free reservation codes for the evening session at Tiananmen Square. Simply ask your guide for the code to visit independently after the tour. On all other off-peak dates, we will enter Tiananmen Square for a walking tour.
The Palace Museum
Then we will proceed to the Imperial Palace (Forbidden City) — the world’s largest and best-preserved ancient imperial complex, with over 500 years of history. Constructed between 1406 and 1420, the palace has been damaged, looted, rebuilt and restored numerous times. As a result, most of the existing architecture dates from the 18th century onward.

Excellent tour guide Jeffrey & Sun the driver. Very nice people, good english and lots of historical and modern day facts about Beijing. Start early as possible to avoid lines and crowds at the temple of Heaven and summer palace.

Sally spoke great English, easy to understand. We were able to see a lot of Beijing on this tour, and received the important historical context for all of the places we went. She even got us an amazing lunch with Peking duck! Which we said we wanted to try. Overall great tour and would highly recommend.

We highly recommend Lucy Yu as a tour guide! We had to shorten our tour due to work commitments, and Lucy was super flexible and helped organize a great shorter tour to see the most interesting sites. She shared very interesting info all along and had was very cheerful and chatty which made our day! Thanks so much for taking good care of us and we look forward to more tours with you when we travel to Beijing again!

Lisa was such a great host. She handled all the arrangements, tickets, lunch, etc all ahead so everything was seamless. We had a day packed full. She offered so much information on the history. Highly recommend. Wear good walking shoes, bring sun screen and cool clothing if hot weather is expected, there is limited shade.

An excellent experience from start to finish. Everything was very efficient and well organised, making the day completely stress-free. Rita was an outstanding guide, knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. We chose to use Didi instead of a private car, and it worked perfectly. It was a fantastic way to see all the main highlights of Beijing in just one day. Highly recommended!

Forbidden Palace worth a visit Tianamen square….very not worth it…huge queues, nothing to see except pavement…. Drive through it to get an idea of size…but don’t stop! Summer palace very pretty and great gardens.. worth going out to. Be ready for long queues, we went April…nice… summer would be hellish!…do NOT go on Chinese holidays…..

Our tour guide, Lisa, helped us cover more ground than we could ever do by ourselves. She arranged taxis between sights, helped navigate the queues (and the crowds) and gave us many choices of how much time and areas to visit in these large palace complexes. Always gave us plenty of history and information of the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven. She also very thoughtfully arranged reservations (which are required) for us to visit and walk around Tiananmen Square later in the evening on our own. Just be prepared for a lot of walking and crowds — wear good shoes and bring water and snacks. Overall, it was a great experience.
