Nice museum with lots of info about the history of Bruges as a centre for diamond merchants, and about the gemstone itself, how it's formed, mined, and cut and so on. It was a highlight of the trip for sure.

A very interesting small museum showing the history of diamond trade in Bruges. But make sure you are there for the diamond polishing demo which is both interesting and informative

Our visit to this museum turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Those who think they will only find a static exhibition are mistaken: here you get a fascinating insight into the fascinating process of diamond processing — from rough stone to sparkling jewel. Don’t expect a showcase full of glittering masterpieces; this museum is all about the craftsmanship behind the diamond. The real added value is therefore in the live demonstration. Thanks to the expert explanation of a passionate employee, we got a clear picture of the delicate grinding process. She answered our questions with knowledge and gave the whole thing a personal touch. Our advice: just don’t skip this museum, but make sure you catch the live demonstration. It takes your visit to a whole other level.

A little skeptical considering the comments found on this site, we chose to visit this museum anyway and fortunately! We arrived just before noon to have a place in the demonstration room. Clear explanations and in several languages, it was really interesting to discover the work around the engraved diamond at this demonstration. Very friendly staff. The rest of the visit is autonomous and is also very rich (not too many details, not too few, good explanatory panels and in several languages, many objects related to the job...). We were delighted (our teenagers too, which is a good sign).

This museum is interesting and complete about everything you need to know about diamonds but it is especially the temple keeper, a passionate, who makes the visit unique. You have to go around 12:00 because he's doing demonstrations.

If you want to learn something about the history and processing of diamonds this place is great. The staff has a lot of knowledge about the entire process and history.

The museum is interesting to learn about diamond, workmanship, preserve documents and tools of the diamond manufacturing industry in Belgium (especially Bruges and West Flanders) and also in the world. A Brazilian collection and synthetic and industrial diamonds are on display. Diamond grinding was invented in Bruges more than 500 years ago. Research in the Bruges archives and the local historian Ludo Vandamme, confirmed that diamonds were traded in Bruges long before they were heard of in Antwerp and Amsterdam, and several diamond polishers, active in Bruges in the 14th century, have been identified. Too much dry, modern content, with contextless text and photos connected to the story.
