Tipu Sultan Fort and Palace - Bangalore KR Market
After meeting and greeting, the Govt. of India Approved and licensed guide shall accompany you and show Tipu Palace. Its a 230 year old palace, all in teak wood, and built in typical Islamic architecture, showing the diwas-e-am and diwan-e-khas. Also, a brief history of Tipu Sultan, his trysts with the French, the Anglo-Mysore wars, his contributions and controversies shall all be discussed. A visit to the Museum in the premises throws more light on how he came to be known as the Grandfather of Rocket Science in the whole world!
Kote Venkataramana Temple
This temple is adjoining the Tipu Palace. It was built in 1690 AD by Chikkadevaraja Wodeyar and showcases wonderful stone sculptures of Indian mythological characters on its walls. The highly carved and ornate stone columns inside the temple reflect high quality workmanship of our artists. Hindu devotees have to book months in advance to offer "Kalyanotsava" (marriage ceremony of Lord Vishnu with Lakshmi) in this temple. It is said that the Garuda Gamba of this temple saved Tipu Sultan from a cannon ball attack from Cornwallis which would have otherwise fell on his palace. The next stop is the Bangalore Fort which is a 10 minute walk from here.

Great. Very individual, informative and interesting tour. The guide also helped organize a taxi, told us a lot about the history of India and guided us through the markets

Raghu was an excellent guide - patient, informative, easy to understand, and offered a great mix of history and cultural insights. He offered to take guests photos at all the right locations and was intuitive in learning what we would all find interesting. The tour is the right pace and sees very interesting sights! He even went out of his way to help us get back to the start location to catch an uber. 10/10 recommend to anyone with half a day in Bengaluru.

We had a wonderful time on this walking tour. I really recommend trying to do it at any time *other* than Saturdays as the marketplace and streets can get incredibly, claustrophobically crowded, but this is a great way to see Bangalore, learn some history, pick up some beautiful sights, scents. Our guides were so friendly and accommodating.

We really experienced India like a local. We saw many temples and experienced the markets. We traveled with our older grandparents who were able to walk with us. Our tour guide Vasuki was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time on our Bangalore tour due to our guide Varun. Few people are likely as passionate and knowledgable about Southern India, its history, cultures and religions as he was. He had deep knowledge of all the sites we visited and complemented our site visits with photos he took on his phone of similar sites across the region, contrasting architectural styles, building materials and cultural differences across Indian states. I had loads of questions and Varun was very happy (and able) to answer all of them. I could not recommend this trip more, particularly for someone who is extremely interested in Bangalore or in India generally. Make sure you ask to be on Varun's tour. As for the tour itself, all of of the sites were worthwhile but the cultural highlight was the marketplace. It is a fascinating site, particularly for someone from the US. Note to parents: We had a 16-month old with us in a stroller. Due to the narrowness of the paths in the marketplace, the stroller would have been impossible to use. It will need to be carried or not brought on the tour. Though we could have carried it ourselves, Varun generously carried it for us.

We had a wonderful walking tour in Bengaluru with our guide Vijay. He was punctual, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s history. He took us to several historic places and through the busy open markets, pointing out interesting details along the way and answering all my questions patiently and with a smile. I was with a friend who lives in Bengaluru, and even she was impressed and said she had never experienced these parts of the city. Vijay shared great insights about Bengaluru's history and the different religious secs within Hinduism. We even took the subway, which was a fun and unique part of the tour. The entire experience felt very safe and well organized. Vijay even waited with us while we called a cab to be sure we got back to our hotel. I highly recommend this tour.
