This is the ideal pick for time-tight travelers wanting to discover lots of Tokyo’s highlights in a day. Avoid the potential confusion of Tokyo’s subway system, and travel comfortably in a private vehicle instead.
Due to the enormous size of Tokyo, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world, a one-day tour would probably focus on one small area, which would still leave you in awe at the scale of the city. Tokyo is where you can experience both modern and traditional, and your experienced private guide will help you efficiently enjoy a full day in this dynamic Japanese capital.
You can see 3 to 4 sights on this tour!

Asakusa
Asakusa is the center of Tokyo's shitamachi , one of Tokyo's districts, where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa's main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries.
Imperial Palace
**This tour does not include access to the inside of the Imperial Palace** The current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo, a short walk from Tokyo Station. It is the residence of Japan's Imperial Family. Edo Castle used to be the seat of the Tokugawa shogun who ruled Japan from 1603 until 1867. In 1868, the shogunate was overthrown, and the country's capital and imperial residence were moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. In 1888 construction of a new Imperial Palace was completed. The palace was once destroyed during World War Two, and rebuilt in the same style, afterwards.

Yusuke was an excellent tour guide. He was very informative and managed the time well and listened and planned our itinerary to our liking. He made reservations for a very sushi nice sushi lunch. It was a long day but we saw so much in the 8 hours. We definitely recommend him and would not hesitate to request him again if ever in Tokyo.

We had a perfect day with Izumi. Our tour was totally custom to what we wanted to see and do. Izumi designed the tour to flow perfectly from a time perspective. He is a fountain of knowledge about Japanese history, geography, culture, and current events. We especially enjoyed sitting with Izumi at a Japanese pub and drinking sake, just getting to know each other. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time in Tokyo thanks to our very special guide An! We didn’t have a lot of time due to flight issues but A got us to all the must see places. She is extremely knowledgeable about the city and history of Tokyo and Japan. Highly recommend!

Excellent tour in a very large and busy city. It was very helpful to have both a driver and a guide. They were both excellent! Our guide, Yoshi, helped us plan a memorable day.

We booked an 8-hour private tour in Tokyo with a driver since we only had part of one day off our cruise ship. When we disembarked, we quickly found our guide, Kaz, holding a sign with our name. He warmly introduced himself and escorted us to our car. Our first stop was Shibuya Crossing, which was absolutely incredible—crowds of people crossing in every direction at once. Next, we visited the Hachikō Statue, where we took photos and learned about the touching story behind this beloved symbol of loyalty and popular meeting spot. We then made our way to Meiji Shrine, a peaceful and beautiful place. After that, we visited Sensō-ji Hōzōmon Gate, where Kaz explained the traditional rituals of offering, bowing, clapping, and praying. For dinner, we mentioned we were craving noodles, and Kaz took us to a local spot where we enjoyed some of the most delicious soba noodles with tempura prawns—absolutely fantastic. Throughout the day, Kaz was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing history and answering all of our questions. Even though it rained the entire time, we made the most of it and had a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this tour and would absolutely book again if we return to Japan.

You can book the "Tokyo Full Day Tour with Licensed Tour Guide and Vehicle from Yokohama" with confidence. The guide, Atsushi Kayukawa, is licensed with the Japan Travel Agency and was extremely knowledgeable, confident, proud and friendly, always willing to assist with any requests whilst on tour. Atsushi-san was friendly at all times and spoke English very fluently. The vehicle was a 7 seater mini van in very good condition and although the driver had limited English ability, he knew his way around Tokyo very well and even took us back to Yokohama via a different route to show us more of Tokyo and its surrounds. We were chuffed to have a full view of Mt Fuji in the distance, a special achievement for our group of 6. Our lunch in the Nezu area at a very small traditional local noodle bar was delicious and much enjoyed by all.
