Located in the historic tea house Rakuu-tei, right by the beautiful Japanese garden, our shop offers an authentic setting unlike anywhere else.

Stroll freely through the peaceful garden in traditional attire, and capture memorable moments in one of Tokyo’s most iconic spots.

What‘s Included

Free time to explore the garden (final kimono return by 4:00 PM).

Full kimono rental, including obi belt, tabi socks, traditional sandals, and a Japanese handbag.

Basic hair styling for women is included. Additional styles are available as paid optional extras.

Professional kimono dressing service.

The entrance fee to Shinjuku Gyoen is not included and must be purchased separately.

Photography plan not included: A photography option is not currently available.

Accessories like traditional umbrellas and other small items are available as optional add-ons.

What To Expect

Authentic Kimono Experience inside Shinjuku Gyoen – A Unique Cultural Journey Founded 174 years ago, Kouichi Store is a long-established kimono maker dedicated to preserving and sharing Japan’s rich textile traditions. Step into the heart of Tokyo and immerse yourself in a traditional Japanese experience with an authentic kimono rental in the serene Shinjuku Gyoen Park. This exclusive activity begins at the historic tea room, "Rakuu-tei Kouichi Store," located inside the tranquil Shinjuku Gyoen. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our welcoming staff who will assist you in selecting your kimono for the experience. Next, our professional dressing team will help you wear your kimono, complete with a matching obi belt, tabi socks, traditional sandals, and a traditional Japanese handbag. You can choose from a wide range of authentic kimonos, carefully selected to match the season. The dressing and kimono selection take about 60 minutes, with professional assistance provided throughout to ensure a smooth and enjoyable start. Afterward, you are free to explore Shinjuku Gyoen and the surrounding area in your kimono, for as long as you like until the final return time — 4:00 PM.

Where do I begin this entire experience was soo amazing I loved every minute of it and Highly Recommend Them the Customer Service was amazing they made you feel like family as you embrace their culture and they help transform you into this beautiful person in the gorgeous Kimono !! I looked Amazing if I don’t say so myself and I came here for my birthday first time here and first time in Japan I loved it and Chiho she was my Angel !! In disguise and everyone was sooo very nice welcoming and fun to be with the d tire time then I went next door for lunch and tea I will be back !! Thnk you all so much for making my Birthday So Special!!!!

Great experience seeing how traditional kimonos work, beautiful setting in the park, great for pictures. Friendly, accommodating staff. Lots of smiles and compliments from locals when wandering through the gardens.

We booked a time and were greeted warmly. The ladies were helpful and helped us pick out kimonos/obe, and did my hair very well (it’s quite frizzy). They were delightful and the kimono/obe were great to wear even in 25 degree weather it wasn’t hot. We got great pictures and had the best time. Wish them well <3
