Discover one of Japan’s most beloved traditional sweets — mochi, soft rice cakes filled with delicious sweet or savory flavors. Join a friendly local chef and learn the authentic art of mochi-making, from pounding the rice to shaping and filling it yourself.

Get hands-on experience creating several types, such as red bean mochi, mochi ice cream, mitarashi dango (grilled skewered mochi with sweet soy glaze), and wagashi (beautiful candy-style mochi).

After the class, relax and enjoy your handmade creations with a cup of traditional matcha tea.

Amane is an exceptional guide and really made this a special and unique experience. His unique position as a young Japanese man navigating Japan’s push into modernity while also trying to respect tradition makes for a very interesting mochi pounding experience that goes beyond the motions. Extremely fun and interesting experience!

Awesome Mochi making workshop! Our host Shin was very accommodating and just great to talk to. He also pre-pounded the Mochi before we arrived so we didn't have to work up a sweat before eating.

We had the best experience ever!! While on a Japan trip I was looking for an experience that I could learn the Japanese culture actively, and this was it!!! The Guide was super passionate and he also introduced us with couple of other nice experiences we could do for the rest of the day!! 100% recommend, thank you so much!!

Fantastic mochi experience! I went with my friend, and it was so much fun pounding the mochi. Also I was able to learn the traditional ingredients, not just the icecream mochi that we eat everyday
