Our guide was Haruko who was an interesting and knowledgeable guide. As we negotiated through the crowded streets of Tsukiji she was always concerned about our well being (both of us being 70+). She was fluent in Japanese and English (no accent). She helped me with purchasing items on the street. Overall it was a very enjoyable visit despite the crowded streets.

We had a very enjoyable small-group food tour at Tsukiji Market. It was fun to learn more about Japanese food culture and to see things we would probably have missed on our own. Our guide was quite young and perhaps not deeply into food, and his English wasn’t perfect, but he was very friendly, enthusiastic, and really wanted us to have a good experience. He also checked what we were interested in and adapted along the way, which we appreciated. The tour ended with a memorable lunch where we got to see a fish turned into sushi – a great experience!

It's a visit to a busy market with many small retailers of seafood and related products. Yoko was an excellent guide. If you are looking for the merchant market with auctions, that's not here but in another market in Tokyo.
