This is absolutely a wonderful adventure. It was our first time doing a Grade 3 whitewater river but the crew and staff did an amazing job with safety and instructions. The gears are provided so all you need is to bring your bathing clothes (non-cotton) and a towel. The whole experience is about 2 hours.

We did the 14k 60 rapid rafting trip as a group of 6 adults, 5 of whom had never done it before. The whole experience was fantastic, the guides were professional but fun, friendly and helpful. There was a good briefing, the drive to the launch point doesn’t take long and there was minimal waiting around. The wetsuit & other gear was comfortable enough to wear and I wasn’t cold (but unlike my companions I chose not to jump into the river!) Our guide Fletcher was lots of fun, and the rapids were thrilling without ever being too scary. The scenery is absolutely stunning and we even got to see endangered whio ducks!

We’d give this six stars if we could. The experience was amazing from start to finish. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and very reassuring about the trip to come given we are a pair of 60 year olds with the usual compliment of bodily aches and pains! Out on the water Stefan was an excellent skipper and we felt safe and in capable hands at all times. The Tongariro River is stunningly beautiful and we feel privileged to have been able to enjoy it from the water in this way - and across 60 rapids! It was physically demanding but not excessively so and if you’re unsure about ‘grade 3’ just give it a go - you won’t regret it. Thanks again to Stefan and to all at Tongariro River Rafting for one of the best adventure experiences we’ve ever had.

This white water rafting tour was worth every cent. From check in, through to kit fitting, safety briefing, transportation and of course the rafting itself - all very well organized and very professional. Stefan aka SpaceMan was an awesome guide who ensured my family was confident throughout the 2 hour trip and ensure a ton of fun. Very engaging and switched on guy. And even learned a few things along the way. Cannot recommend this tour enough.

We had a great time with just enough thrills and a chance of a spill. Top guide with clear instructions and great knowledge of the river and wildlife.
