What To Expect
Tongli Town
Your local friendly driver will pick up at your place in Shanghai at your preferred time. Hop onto the clean, air-conditioned car, sit back and enjoy a comfortable ride to Tongli, located in Wujiang in Jiangsu Province. Upon arrival, you will start to explore the town on your own with ease and leisure. Such as visit Ming and Qing Dynasty street, visit the UNSECO garden -Tuisi Garden, cross the lucky three ring stone bridges or choose to take a relaxing gondola ride along the ancient canal while appreciate the charming of the picturesque “Oriental Venice” township scenery. Your driver will patiently wait for you while you are visiting the town. After the wonderful visit, enjoy a nice ride to Shanghai with convenient drop off at your place in Shanghai. Your driver is with basic English skills but he/she will be well informed about the pick-up and drop off details. A local English-speaking assistant is available on the phone to assist before or during the transfers if needed.

5.00We booked this trip at the last minute (the night before), but this wasn't a problem. Sunny organized everything promptly, and we received almost instant confirmation that our driver would pick us up at our hotel the following morning at our requested time. Ken, our driver, spoke excellent English, was very friendly and professional, and answered all our questions (note some drivers only speak basic English). The car was very clean and exceptionally comfortable with water provided, making the 1.5 hour drive to Tongli a pleasure. The time we were given in Tongli was more than enough to see the village, which is easily walkable, although mostly on cobblestones. This is a self guided tour, but Ken helped us obtain our tickets and map which made things easier for us. We returned to Shanghai safely and happy with our day in the countryside.

We had trouble using our MasterCard online (our problem) and Sunny was patient and understanding while we arranged alternative payment. The bookings we made were both on short notice and Sunny was responsive and helpful. The transport was luxurious and very comfortable and clean (water provided, massage, heated seats, recliner seats). The driver was a safe driver and arrived promptly. Wonderful and could not recommend more highly

5.00Ken who collected us from our hotel to take us to Tongli was a most kind and considerate person and most importantly a very safe driver. He spoke good English and we had a great chat about all manner of things on the way. This is an individual tour so timings and drop off location can be adjusted to suit one’s needs. Ken walked up with us to the tourist gate to ensure that the ticket purchasing etc all went smoothly. Tongli is a charming and relatively small place so easy to take it all in over 2-3 hours. You can either walk around town, hire a cycle rickshaw (although reasonable command of mandarin is probably required) or take a short boat trip. The driver will not accompany you into town but there is a helpful tourist centre where they have maps (with English descriptions). This was a very comfortable way to visit one of the so called water towns from Shanghai without the need to join a tour group being driven there in a relatively new Chinese made spacious airconditioned SUV style car. Tongli was relatively quiet on a Thursday during the Chinese summer school holiday so that may be an additional reason to choose Tongli over other water towns. Anybody who knows China will be aware that the crowds at tourist hotspots can be rather large during summer.
