Enjoy a private and authentic cooking class in a Santiago countryside home in Lampa with your host Patricia (Patty), a skilled cook who loves to entertain. This is a perfect experience for anyone looking to connect with local culture over food. Your cooking class will take place in her local home kitchen where Patty will teach you Chilean dishes from family recipes, using fresh garden produce. After cooking, enjoy your meal together. Patty and her husband Enrique live in a gorgeous, sprawling ranch-style home that boasts a variety of fruit and nut trees, from mandarin to walnut. You will be welcomed with open arms and a bottle of Carménere into a house that is both modern and filled with old-world charm. Patty has a reputation at work for hosting the best dinner parties and as soon as anyone at the office finds out that Patty is cooking over the weekend, they try and weasel their way into an invitation in the hopes of tasting her famous pastel de choclo or her husband’s asado!

What To Expect
This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Join Patty in her home kitchen for your Chilean cooking class. The kitchen is large and modern, with an island that allows everyone to congregate easily and cook together. The shelves are heaped with the produce collected from Patty’s garden. Patty can offer you a cooking demonstration or give you a hands-on cooking lesson – just let her know your preference. During your Chilean cooking lesson, Patty will teach you to make dishes that she and her family grew up eating and love, using fresh vegetables and herbs. As you cook together Patty will tell you about the ingredients she uses and about growing up in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother. Enjoy your meal in this home that is a place of warmth and luxury. Your authentic Chilean menu might include dishes such as pastel de choclo (a casserole similar to shepherd’s pie made with corn and chicken), chupe de mariscos (seafood stew), or cazuela (a typical Chilean soup). Don't miss out on this wonderful experience to get a glimpse of a Chilean home and learn about their culture and cuisine from a local!

5.00What a wonderful evening we had with Patricia and Enrique! The night began with appetizers and conversation, and we immediately connected with this genuine, friendly couple. The girls helped prepare vegetables while Patricia shared stories about life in Chile, making the experience both fun and meaningful. The evening was filled with laughter, great food, and warmth. We truly appreciated Patricia’s flexibility when one of our tours was canceled and we needed to change dates—she communicated so well and made everything easy. Patricia is a fantastic chef and host, and I highly recommend spending an evening with this delightful couple.

5.00Patty and Enrique were fantastic hosts. They welcomed us into their home and had a fantastic spread of foods and drinks for us upon arrival. Their home is amazing, with many fruit trees and interesting things to see. We started with a huge charcuterie board and some cocktails Enrique made. Patty showed us the different dishes we would be making, and we got to work. We had an appetizer first. Then made our side dish and the main, which for us was salmon with a turmeric and white wine sauce. They were very kind and fun to talk to, and we recommend this 100%.

5.00Upon arriving in Santiago, Chile for the first time, my hope was to spend quality time with people who lived in and around this vibrant city. My evening with Patricia (Patty) and Enrique in Lampa made me feel like I was not brand-new to Chile but had already settled in and made friends. Such a lovely couple, and what fun I had making seafood pie and learning that the best Chilean meals start with one, perfect avocado and are awash with wine and laughter. The gorgeous crepe with strawberry marmalade that Patty made ended one of my most favorite evenings while staying in this country.
Feeling welcomed in Chile by Patricia and Enrique in a way that made us feel like old friends.

5.00Even though this was the first night of our vacation, we know there is no way we will have a better memory this trip than our night with Patricia!! We felt like family, being welcomed to their beautiful home, and truly learning about the beautiful Chilean culture through this wonderful family and night of cooking. We would move to Santiago just to be neighbors and share many more meals, laughs, hugs, and tears. One of our best nights of our life!!!

5.00Patty and her husband Enrique were wonderful hosts! They have a beautiful home in the countryside and were easy to communicate with on WhatsApp prior to the visit. We made a number of delicious Chilean dishes with local seafood, and shared Pisco Sours and Chilean wine. It was a wonderful way to end my time in Chile, thanks Patty and Enrique!

5.00Dinner with Patty and Enrique was very special. Enrique greeted us at the gate then gave us a tour of their gardens before we settled in with our aprons to help Patty prepare our meal, which we enjoyed with terrific local wine from Enrique's collection. We had such a fun evening together, sharing stories about our lives and travels. What a wonderful way to learn about Chilean food and culture!
