This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Ahmed, Afaf and their daughters, Reema and Jana will welcome you to their traditional home in Amman. You will be welcomed with Arabic coffee and later join the family at the dining table to enjoy a traditional Jordanian meal. Don your apron and join Afaf in her home kitchen to learn to cook a traditional Jordanian meal. In your 2-hour hands-on Amman cooking class, learn to make a salad or hummus, main dish and dessert. Afaf speaks limited English, so Ahmed will be present to translate. She will introduce you to the ingredients and guide you through the step by step process of making the dishes that she learned to cook from her mother and grandmother. If you choose the market tour option, Ahmed will drive you to a popular local market. This is a market for fresh produce with some of the best vegetables and fruits in Amman. Take a stroll through the souk and enjoy the vibrant smells and the stalls filled with brightly colored, fresh fruits and vegetables. Enjoy the entertaining interactions with the vendors, while you pick up a few ingredients for your cooking class.

This was a wonderful experience start to finish. The tour of the market, the open conversations around Jordanian culture, the cooking class from showing us the ingredients and techniques for preparing the dishes. Ahmed and Afaf were wonderful hosts. Ahmed was flexible with the starting time to allow for a relaxed experience. This is a great adventure for folks who want a bit more in depth exposure to cooking Jordanian food and discussing the Jordanian way of life. Ahmed was very easy to communicate with via WhatsApp. He guided us through the market stopping at a variety of shops to get the ingredients all the while explaining the Jordanian approach to the fresh food. It was a lot of fun actually preparing the dishes with him and Afaf. Just a wonderful experience.
