Osaka “Otomonogatari (A Sound Journey)"

Immerse yourself in Japan’s rich heritage through authentic performances by professional players of traditional instruments, known as “Hogaku.”

This activity offers two unique opportunities to connect with Japan's history:

1. Enjoying a passionate and dynamic concert by professional musicians.

2. Participating in a hands-on experience of playing traditional Japanese instruments.

During the concert, you will see a captivating and energetic performance by skilled artists, showcasing the beauty of traditional Japanese music.

In the hands-on session, you can explore a variety of traditional Japanese instruments — try the ones that interest you the most.

You will receive basic guidance on how to handle the instrument and even have the chance to play a short section together with the group.

Of course, there will be time for photography as well.

What To Expect

You Can Experience Traditional Japanese Music and Culture. 25 minutes: Enjoy an authentic Japanese music concert. 25 minutes: Try playing traditional Japanese musical instruments. 10 minutes: Take photos with the instruments and performers. Total Duration: 60 minutes Wednesday: 11:00 Friday: 18:30  Participants will have the unique opportunity to experience a variety of traditional Japanese instruments, including: ・Shamisen (Japanese lute) ・Koto (Japanese harp) ・Wadaiko (Japanese drum) and more!  ・A minimum of 2 participants is required to hold the activity. ・ The concert content varies depending on the day, offering a unique experience each time. ・If you have any questions or special requests, feel free to contact us.

It was a magical experience and completely different from anything I had experienced in Japan. The live show with traditional instruments like shamisen, koto and taiko was impressive, with an energy that was felt very closely. After the concert, we were able to test the instruments ourselves. Although I had never played one before, the staff was very friendly and patient. Being able to play a song like “Sakura” with the koto was an unforgettable moment. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to feel the soul of Japanese culture through music.
I was mesmerized by the singing voice of a folk song.

The Kyoto tour was so good that I booked it with a friend from China. The venue is a little more compact, but it's more realistic and conversely good! The main programs were Shamisen and Koto. Jiuta The voice of was very good.

Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. “Don Pan Pan” was my favorite part of the show. The staff were super friendly and made the atmosphere cheerful and vibrant. I also enjoyed the koto practice section. I felt accomplished to be able to play the wonderful song called Sakura in such a short time.

A child wants to play the shamisen because of the influence of TV animation, so I joined this experience tour while traveling to Osaka. It was only a short time, but I had the opportunity to touch the instrument a little too. The unique sound of Japanese instruments resonated with me, a bit different from pianos and guitars. I don't know about music, but it seemed that my family enjoyed it. I'd like to use it again if I get the chance.

The music experience was amazing, hearing traditional folk songs and enjoying a cultural explanation for each song. We practised some instruments and played along with some melodies. Both musicians were very supportive and patient teaching and helping taking pictures and videos. It was a lovely experience!

It was a great show. You can enjoy all the traditional Japanese instruments. I saw a show in Kyoto, but it was a bit different, and I enjoyed it!
