A really great experience, going through the local market, learning about local produces and use. Peng is a great friendly guide, who introduced us to his garden and showed us cooking and crafting techniques with bamboo. All of this in a nice quite place to enjoy the food.

Interesting activity, specially for city dwellers. Do note however that the listing incorrectly mentions gathering herbs and cooking in the forest, it's a farm based activity. Our guide Peng was excellent and being a farmer, had a good knowledge of the vegetables he was growing. Rice cooking in bamboo was a new experience for us. Overall enjoyable and peaceful setting in the countryside

I had to pay for two participants in order to book this, because there was no option for a solo traveler. I hope the extra I paid went to Peng as a tip. He did an excellent job and I had a great experience. I learned things that will come in handy later. It was a lot of fun!

Amazing experience with a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. After a short trek into the jungle, we came upon a clearing with a small bamboo platform where we used machetes to fashion some cover from the rain. We then made our own cooking, eating, and drinking utensils from bamboo. The meal we prepped and cooked over open fire was exceptional. Highly recommend this experience if you're interested in traditional Lao cooking and bush skills.

What an incredible experience worth every cent! Our guide Pheng was very knowledgeable about all the local farms and villages were we got our food from. We harvested our fresh banana leaves, started fires from scratch, and cooked delicious sticky rice inside bamboo, a traditional way to cook rice which was very cool. We cooked deicious fresh fish from the Mekong and local chicken, had “bamboo chips”, some wild fruits we picked ourselves, and were shown how to make our own chopsticks and filter dirty water. This was overall an amazing trip and would recommend it to anyone wanting an adventure. The trip to the local village at the end was very nice as well, beautiful mountain and rice field views.

This cooking class doubled as a survival class. Peng was very passionate and informative about how to go about surviving in the jungle. He teaches you how to do everything from scratch, and it's truly a unique experience. I doubt you could find many experiences similar to this in the world. 10/10

Exciting first ever cooking school in a forest. Nice to be out of the city and to experience beautiful trees and village life. Intimate tour for 2. Guide Peng was sweet and knowledgeable. Driver did a good job managing the tuk tuk.

Peng was great. Super knowledgeable and his English was great.. very easy to converse with. Only thing that may have been a small fault was miscommunication with pick up as I had booked this quite in advance and it being a fairly new tour. But this was resolved very quickly through WhatsApp the morning of. He showed us survival skills that they would use such as setting up traps, breaking down bamboo, selecting the right bamboo and much more along with cooking of course. Time flew by very quickly and so insightful, especially for me where camping and activities like this would be out of the norm. I would recommend insect repellent with deet when being out in the forest. Mosquitoes are not your friend! Wear comfortable walking shoes and light long pants to protect your legs from plants when walking through the forest.

This was a fantastic and super unique experience. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Ping was a great guide and took time to let us try all the activities. As well, he took us to a few farms to learn about the work of the farmers as well as some of the natural vegetation that is edible or useful for medicine. We'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for something a little different.
