Trou aux Cerfs
Begin your 7-8 hours southwest scenic tour with a hotel pick-up anywhere in Mauritius. You will meet & be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding to your comfortable vehicle, then set off for your first stop. You'll be heading to Trou Aux Cerfs which is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters & a depth of around 100 meters. Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700 000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again. Definitely, one of the main highlights is the 360-degree view of the town, Curepipe & the majestic view of Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range.
Afterward, head to Mare Aux Vacoas reservoir which has the honor of being the largest reservoir on the island with a capacity of almost 26 million cubic meters and is simultaneously a rather popular stop for tourists visiting the south of the island. Although nothing as fancy as the other attractions in Mauritius, Mare aux Vacoas is a gem hidden between lines of thick forests. It is the perfect place to spend a relaxing few minutes away from the usual hustle and bustle of the country. The reservoir even offers a rather amazing view worth several clicks.

*Mauritius: Paradise Perfected My impregnable yearning to explore the long-cherished elusive destination kept bubbling up from the meandering morass of indecisive procrastination till I, along with my spouse, zeroed in on this coruscating gem in the Indian Ocean -- Mauritius. For years, the allure of this island paradise tantalised my senses, fueling an unrelenting dream to escape to its shores and surrender to its serene beauty. The allure of Mauritius' pristine beaches, lush forests, and enchanting ambience has captivated my soul, making it an irresistible rhapsodic destination. Father of American literature, Mark Twain, famously said: “Mauritius was made first, and then heaven. And heaven was copied after Mauritius.” When I first set eyes on this far-flung island in the Indian Ocean, I immediately agreed that it is heaven on earth! Mauritius, the celestial archipelago, unfurls its majestic splendor like a tapestry of turquoise and emerald, intricately woven by the divine hands of nature. Here the time stands still, and the soul finds solace in the embrace of nature's splendor, where every moment is a testament to the magic that awaits in this tropical paradise. As we step into Anelia Resort, our ephemeral abode for seven days, we were enveloped in a tranquil oasis that seamlessly blends luxurious elegance with rapture-inducing tropical charm. The spacious lobby boasts soaring ceilings, adorned with intricate wooden carvings and majestic chandeliers that refract warm golden light. Plush furnishings in soothing hues of cream and beige invite relaxation, while vibrant artwork and lush greenery inject pops of colour and vitality. Each room at the resort is a serene retreat, thoughtfully designed to harmonise modern comfort with island inspiration. Walls adorned with soft, creamy hues and accented with warm wood tones create a cozy ambiance. Plush beds, draped in crisp linens and adorned with vibrant tropical prints, beckon restful slumber. Private balconies or patios offer breathtaking views of the turquoise ocean, lush gardens and sparkling pool. This enchanting island nation beckons travelers to indulge in its mesmerising landscapes, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. As the warm golden sand whispers secrets to the shore, the majestic beach surroundings of Anelia Resort unfold like a canvas of serenity. Nature's masterpiece, crafted with precision and passion, beckons to surrender to its allure. Swaying palm trees, adorned with emerald leaves, stand sentinel along the shoreline, their gentle rustle a soothing serenade. While admiring this stupendous scenic resplendence, one tends to get immersed into the cornucopia of joie de vivre! As the day succumbs to dusk concurrent to the sun down, the sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of warm incandescent hues – a breathtaking sunset spectacle! From the welcoming smiles to the solicitous gestures, every interaction was a testament to the resort's commitment to excellence. Anelia Resort has truly exceeded our expectations, providing a luxurious and memorable experience. The culinary team's creativity and attention to detail impressed us to the hilt, with each dish showcasing the perfect blend of flavours and presentation. The variety of continental and local cuisine catered to our tastes. Blessed by Epicurus, we indulged our senses in a gastronomic journey where culinary mastery meets tropical bliss. Beachside alfresco dining offers fresh seafood, impeccably prepared to highlight the day's catch. Lip-smacking grilled fish infused with herbs was visually stunning and delectable to savour.

The driver was very kind. He gave us extra time at Valle Adventure Park so I could try the zipline.

We had a really enjoyable all-day trip, and a big part of that was thanks to our guide, Radhika. She was friendly, engaging, and brought a great sense of fun to the day. Her energy and knowledge made each stop more interesting, and she created a relaxed and positive atmosphere throughout. That said, the overall itinerary felt quite rushed. There were simply too many activities packed into the day, which made it difficult to fully enjoy each location. When we added up the suggested time at each stop, it came to the full 8 hours we had with the guide, without accounting for travel time between locations. This made the schedule feel unrealistic and a bit pressured. We would strongly suggest that the agency consider reducing the number of activities so that guests can spend more meaningful, relaxed time at each place. Factoring in travel time would make the experience far more enjoyable and less rushed. Overall, a fun day with a fantastic guide, but the itinerary would benefit from a more balanced and realistic schedule.

We had an all-day tour with our guide, Radhika, and I want to start by saying that she was absolutely great! She was friendly, fun and knowledgeable, and did her best to keep everything organized and enjoyable throughout the day. However, we felt that the overall itinerary of the tour was not very realistic for the amount of time available. There were simply too many stops planned, which made the experience feel rushed. Because of this, we didn’t have enough time to properly enjoy the views or fully explore the different locations. We would suggest reconsidering the number of attractions included in the tour. Fewer stops would allow for a more relaxed pace and a much more enjoyable experience overall. Thank you again to Radhika for her effort and professionalism. She truly made the best of a very tight schedule.

We were disappointed with the content of the tour. - The visit to the tea plantation. We were seated at a table to try tea, which we had to do ourselves. No one explained the plantation/tea production process, even though the tour website lists this as an activity. -a driver who as soon as possible wanted to go a sleep, while waiting for us/stopped at a liquor store. We had to wake him twice up when we came back - Adventure park. To reach the colored stones and the waterfalls, we were strongly urged to rent a quad bike/buggy for at least 50 euros. We were told it would be at least an hour and a half of walking through the park. I have a bad knee, and we considered doing this. We found this very odd, considering your tour was supposed to be all-inclusive. These costs aren't listed anywhere on Tripadvisor. In the end, we walked anyway, and it turned out to be only 45 minutes (with rest stops). Such additional costs should be listed on the website. - Rum tasting. It's essentially the same story as the tea plantation. We were supposed to get a full tour and an explanation of the distillation process. Instead, we ended up standing at a bar like teenagers taking shots of rum without any further explanation. Questions weren't answered, and within five minutes we were out. The price of the tour is disproportionate to the actual content of the tour. Much to expensive. We wrote a complaint about this and received no reaction

I had a free day and decided to book a solo meal at the Harvester Borderer restaurant in Newport Gwent. I have their app, which offered me 40%off my main course. The waitress Clare was very attentive and welcoming, ushered me to my table soon after I arrived and provided the menus and drinks order. I had a rump steak (well done) with baked potato, mushroom, onion rings and a side of half a rack of glazed spare ribs. The included salad buffet had a wonderful selection of fresh salad items. Soon after I had finished my salad, my main course was ready and was cooked to perfection. I went up and complimented the chef. I finished with the special mini dessert and latte coffee choosing the sundae as my mini dessert. I was delighted with my experience and feel cheered up during another wet drab February day.

The problem is that there is too little time to enjoy the individual sightseeing points. We were under constant pressure. The driver explained the problem to us as follows: The tour is intended for tourists who are in the south. The approach time to pick up is short and accordingly there is more time for the locations. We are in the east and it takes him about 1.5 hours to pick us up. It was almost 2 hours from the last sight back. The total time is limited to 8.5 hours. The driver has to pass all points and accordingly there is little time then. For example, we only had 20 minutes for the tea plantation. The company needs to organize this better. She advertises that you are picked up everywhere in Mauritius, but then she also has to schedule enough time for the individual sights. Only recommended for tourists who do not have a rental car and want to get a quick overview of some sights in the south in one day.
