Starting from Customs House, you’ll hear about Sydney’s colonisation by the British - and how their arrival impacted the original inhabitants.
Your guide will provide you with a range of perspectives on Sydney’s development, introducing Aboriginal leaders, British governors, convicts and entrepreneurs, as well as more recent arrivals.
You’ll finish with a beer at a popular brewery with views of the Bridge, the Opera House and Sydney Harbour. Over a drink, your host will give you further recommendations to make your time in Sydney special – stuff you won’t find in a guidebook!
Walk the streets in a small group so you’re not fighting to see & hear your guide or stay on the footpath.

What To Expect
Customs House
We start at Customs House where you'll see a scale model of all of Sydney and where we will walk (approx 4km / 2.5 miles). You'll also learn some Aboriginal place names for parts of Sydney and explore the new precinct immediately behind Customs House.
The Mint
We walk past the "Rum Hospital", which now consists of NSW Parliament, the Sydney Hospital and the Mint.

5.00This tour group was great fun. Jake had a lot of stories and facts to share, was able to pivot periodically when needed, and the group size was perfect as a solo traveler to be involved and not get lost in a large group. I'd absolutely book this tour or another tour with this group again.

5.00This is a good value tour with a knowledgeable guide but there is a fair bit of walking. We'd been in the city a couple of days but found that Jake introduced us to area's we hadn't been to. Well worth doing. The admin is also excellent, as I had an issue with the original day I had booked for and they changed to another tour with no fuss. They also recognised that we'd done a tour with them in Brisbane and gave us a rebooking discount.

5.00Fantastic tour with Jake! Very knowledgable and engaging. Discovered places in Sydney that you wouldn’t stumble across normally and he gave out great recommendations for local bakeries and bars. To top it off, got a great drink at the end! Highly recommend this tour!

5.00Great walking tour taking us through the main business district, the circular quay, and the Rocks. Our guide Matt was very friendly and shared a lot of interesting stories of the establishment of Sydney and it's interactions with the First Nations people. He was also quick to share suggestions of places to eat when we asked. We had 7 in our group, which was a great size because we were able to be nimble and fit into places or alleyways larger groups couldn't.

5.00Really enjoyed the tour. Jake was really knowledgeable, and I felt that I had a much better and interesting view of the fabulous city of Sydney. So thank you, Jake. Also worth noting that I used the same company for a tour in Brisbane with Tom which was equally as engaging and interesting. So good when they really know their stuff.
