Watarrka National Park
The main attraction of Watarrka is undoubtedly Kings Canyon – a humungous gorge enclosed by sheer rock walls hundreds of metres high. Offering a welcome escape from the dry desert heat, this site’s deep gullies and hidden rockpools provide shelter to more than 600 species of native plants and animals. Your guide will point these out on a guided trek that takes in the canyon’s most famous sites – the Lost City, Garden of Eden, Amphitheatre and North and South Walls. Then it’s lunch, rest, and back to Alice for farewells.

This was an amazing experience and one I would highly recommend. The tour was very well organised and our guide Lorrie was exceptional in every way. Uluṟu and Kata Tjuṯa are stunning but Kings Canyon is breathtaking- definitely do the rim walk. It is so worth it. We met the nicest people in our group and there was a lot of camaraderie around the camp fire. We were sad when the trip came to an end.

Great tour overall. Long bus journey from Alice Springs broken up with many stops for toilet and snacks. Pick up also from Yulara airport. We were a bit like teachers on a school trip as we were in our 60’s and everyone else much younger. Food very good and lots of snacks provided. Fantastic experience seeing Uluru both at sunset and sun rise. We camped in tents which are very hot but less bugs than those who slept outdoors in swags. Early morning starts were welcome as we hit a heat wave. Guide Asha was fantastic at giving advice and reminding everyone to drink plenty due to extreme heat of 40-42 degrees. She worked hard during the trip driving, cooking and guiding. Next day moved on to king’s canyon for final hike. All hikes spectacular views. You do need a reasonable level of fitness. Be able to walk for 3-4 hours and climb stairs for about 30 mins with couple of breaks. We were able to manage the hikes comfortably (unlike some of the younger members of the group). Like all groups you get a few idiots and a few princesses but Asha handled this so well. Overall a great group of people from all over the world who were very considerate and respectful. Would definitely recommend the company and tour. Food plentiful. Only critique would be the cost - a bit steep for some travellers on a budget

Destination unique. Group with nice people, through camping and eating together and cleaning up afterwards you also feel connected quickly. Deployment of staff improbably high! Unfortunately, the vehicles were poorly maintained, with many defects.

A wonderful experience observing a sunset at Uluru in perfect conditions followed by two nights under the stars in a swagbag. All very memorable and backed up with a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide.

The tour went 3 days/2 nights. From Alice Springs the journey took a good 5 hours. Then a hike at Kata Tjuta, then sunset at Uluru and off to camp. We had the swag (no tent). A kind of big sleeping bag, i.e. we slept on the floor under the starry sky. First night to get used to, second night is great. Starry sky, full moon with us, really great! Second day up very early, sunrise at Uluru and hike around it (about 4h). Again and again stops for lookouts. 3 hours drive to Camp 2 (with pool) Day three early get up again and hike at Kings Canyon, then lunch and 5 hours drive back. It was a great combination, we would do it again. You just have to be aware that there is no great comfort and you have to drive a long time. But our guide Simon was great!!! He made the trip so fun that the driving time passed quickly!

Departure pickup from the ELKIRA Hotel in Alice Springs not completed despite our notification. Unnecessary delay and worry. Went on foot to the pick-up point. Change of coach and late departure. Long airport tour and hotels to look for other travelers. Visit Kata Tjuta around 3pm under 39 degrees to launch the stay of tired guests. Unacceptable authoritarianism of the guide imposing arbitrary water consumption on responsible adults. Rise at 4am and then hang out and wait. Meals eaten on the fly and poor (no starter, no desserts, no bread, no drinks etc.) Stressful tour with some beautiful scenery (as promised) and wasted time. Sleeping in a comfortable tent. In short, adventure "BOY-SCOUT" and sometimes infantilizing, unsuitable for a public on holiday.

We booked the 3-day Red Centre tour with Adventure Tours Australia, including overnight stays in 2-person tents. From the organization to the group size and daily activities, everything was perfectly arranged. The landscapes were absolutely breathtaking – definitely our highlight in Australia and exactly what we had imagined. We also really enjoyed the great atmosphere within the group and especially with our guide Mitch. He shared so many interesting stories and had impressive knowledge about every place we visited. Thanks to his friendly, funny and charming personality, we’re giving this tour a full 5 out of 5 stars! One thing that could be improved for future travelers: the mattresses and covers in the campsites – especially at the Wayoutback Camping Site where we stayed for two nights – really need some attention. They were in poor condition and not very pleasant to sleep on. Of course, this wasn’t Mitch’s fault and only partly under Adventure Tours’ control, but it’s something that should definitely be upgraded.

An amazing tour, with our funny guide Mitch, always with a joke on the hand. Good story's , good food, the "swags" isn't bad , quite decent tbh!
