Vito arrived on time, but with a private car, not a minivan. Thus, it was a private tour;-) our tour ended 2 hours earlier than expected. Somehow, it seemed to us that Vito only showed the minimalist program since we were not traveling as a group. Unfortunately, the extra mile was missing. For us, the tour was still worth 4 points. Both places were very interesting and were on the wish list.

Conducting the visit through Alberobello and Matera with Vitto has been a great experience. There were only two of us, and having him was a great decision, as it is clear how much he enjoys doing his job through the dedication and care he puts into each explanation. He knows the history of the trulli and the sassi in depth, detailing everything very clearly, and he also knew how to take us to the best points of interest while avoiding the most crowded areas. He is an attentive, approachable professional who is very committed to ensuring that travelers make the most of their time. Without a doubt, his involvement makes a difference and makes the excursion completely recommendable.

Had a great trip to these amazing towns. Vito is so knowledgeable and passionate about the history and beauty of the area. We had no issues getting into the mini van or his driving. Would recommend if you come to Bari.

The villages were great the driving was a bit much and it would have been nice to have more local history and stories during the drive.

Matera is way more interesting than we expected. Its very old. Alberobello is as amazing as I expected, so different to anything we've ever seen in our many world trips. Our guide was a living human Google machine, totally into his love of history and Italy in general. The one thing I feel would have made it easier for some of us older ones (there was only 6 in the group) would have been a stepping stool to step up into the van. It was quite high and for a couple of us it was painful not only to get up but also to get down out of it. I mentioned this to the guide but he didnt seem to think it was important - which made me think he really wasn't such a people-person. During our drive from Bari out to these 2 towns was comfortable but enroute back to Bari he drive way too fast (enough for me to have to grab the handrail in front of my seat a number of times). After the tour 4 of us discussed it and we all felt he drove dangerously. I realize (being a retired travel agent and also tour guide) that it's easy to get burned out doing the same tours over and over but being an impatient driver is not good! But all in all it was a really wonderful tour, the one and only reason we came to Bari for.

Yes, I am a bit disappointed because the visit to Matera was rushed. We did not see either the underground cistern or the Casa Grotta Museum. Vito, it seems to me, is more of a storyteller than a guide explaining history, but overall, the visit remained interesting.
