No experience is needed, so all are welcome. Experience Class 3 to Class 4 whitewater rapids with a top-rafted rafting outfitter. Swimsuits and shorts work best. Secure shoes with a heel-strap are required (tennis shoes, water shoes, sport sandals with a heel-strap). Bare feet and flip-flops are not allowed. Don't forget to bring a change of clothes and a towel

What To Expect
The longest trip on the Pigeon River – 1.5 miles longer than any other rafting adventure! Take an exciting 6.5 mile ride down class 3 and 4 rapids! On our Upper River Trip, our certified guides will navigate your raft the entire trip, sharing their love of splashing through big waves, maneuvering around rocks, and enjoying the beauty of being in the great outdoors. Big waves, big drops and plenty of surfing will assure that you have the time of your life. On your trip, you’ll get to run about 70 rapids ranging from class 1 to class 4. But, never fear, the Big Pigeon River is for the inexperienced and experienced paddlers. Don’t worry Mom, we’re gonna take good care of you and the kids.

5.00This was the highlight of our Smoky Mountain trip! This was our first time WW rafting and our girls loved it so much (ages 9 and 10). They wanted more rapids! We felt very safe with our guide Judo and highly recommended this experience!

5.00SMO never disappoints. The tour is the best and longest on the river. The price is right. The tour guides help out with any physical challenges that you might have. The tour guides help those who may need a bit of reassurance such as the oldest or youngest in the group. My son was (7) scared when we first went years ago and when we were done that day asked when he could go again! They care about you and your safety. They ensure a great time is had by all. Expect to get wet!

5.00Booked this adventure due to going a lot as a child. What I remember was long leisure and exciting rides with lots of fun to be had. Our party of nine enjoyed the trip! This was a lot short then I remember. We all really enjoyed it . The guide was super friendly and the river was navigated safely through the rapids! Would absolutely return. Sounds like this activity and business has changed in the area due to recent damaging floods. Was glad to enjoy the river despite the changes since the floods … With the way the world it is a privilege to enjoy a natural “amusement ride” . This opportunity may not be around forever due to the way the world is progressing! Was glad to have a company that allowed us to experience whitewater rafting enjoyably with no issues!

5.00We have a family of six (kids ages- 17, 16, 13, and 11) and enjoyed ourselves immensely on this trip! The rapids are not too intense and are easy to navigate for beginners. We had an amazing guide (Eleanor) who was so knowledgeable and helpful for our experience. There are plenty of quieter and still places along the way, including a spot people can get out and briefly swim.

5.00We had a great time. It literally poured rain the entire time we were on the river and our group still enjoyed the trip. You end up interacting with other companies on the water (the river is not that large), and the guides at Smoky Mountain Outdoors just seemed to be a cut above the others. The facility where you meet and then offload at the end of the trip are top notch. Bathrooms are clean with hot showers, lockers available for valuables, and a nice gift shop as well. Overall, a first class operation.

5.00Family trip (first time for husband and kids water rafting). Best experience. Had Megan and she was very knowledgeable of river inspire of river changing after floods. Super affordable. Even had a great BBQ food truck on-site for afterward. Able to change clothing on site (no showers).
