What To Expect
USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park
The Battleship Memorial Park is home to two National Historic Landmarks, the WWII Battleship USS Alabama and the Submarine USS Drum. Step back in time and see what life was like aboard these navy vessels. Explore the Aircraft Pavilion, home to 28 historic aircraft and antique military vehicles. Afterwards, make your way over to the Great War exhibit, which opened in March 2016 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of WWI. Throughout the park you will see memorials honoring modern war veterans including the Fallen Hero’s 9/11 Memorial, the Korean Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, and a monument honoring Military Service dogs. Spend your time however you desire as this self-guided tour will allow you to discover the park on your own terms.

5.00Very neat museum!! Battleship and submarine you can go all over! Lots of walking and sati climbing, entire park was very clean and friendly, nice little cafe to take a break. Bring good shoes to walk in, you’ll need at least 3-4 hours here!

5.00Went to the gift shop at 3:50 and lady said shop is getting ready to close that I have to go to the entrance quickly in order to board the ship. To me the gift shop is as big part of the experience as the tour itself. Drove 6 hours and had to rush and got no souvenirs 🥺 The USS Alabama was a an amazing tour… will have to go again!!

5.00If you had family in WE2, it was an emotional experience. The USS Evan’s room effected me because my father related a story about ships and kamikazes.

5.00Perfect for daytime visit. Definitely takes 2-3 hours to take it all in. It includes the ship and the submarine. I recommend providing a high level explanation of WWII to the kiddos prior to attending.

5.00Great family experience for all ages. Explore as little or as long as you want. Large variety of planes and military equipment as well as the ship and submarine. Congratulations to the citizens of Alabama who had the foresight to create this educational memorial instead of letting this ship be scrapped as many others were.

5.00The Memorial Park is well laid out and well curated. My sons, 19 and 21, loved climbing all over the ship and submarine. Just interactive enough for them to really enjoy the visit.
