Large, old aircraft carrier. It is a big ship. When you get on board they hand you small speakers that allows you to hear information from various areas of the ship. Thus, you don't need an assigned tour guide. It is very interesting and it almost feels that it is almost ready to deploy once again. It is well maintained. Very much worth seeing.

As you walk along the waterfront in San Diego, you pass many beautiful ships and shops and food places. But nothing dominates the waterfront like the huge aircraft carrier, the USS midway. Once on board you are greeted by a small army of volunteers, all of them enthusiastic and eager to tell you about “their” ship. The audio tour and excellent signage guide you around the huge ship, and you are quickly immersed into the experience of a crew on the vessel. On the flight deck you are overwhelmed by the size of the ship, and how difficult it would be to land on this tiny thing in the middle of the ocean! All in all, an amazing way to spend an afternoon in San Diego!

The USS Midway is so interesting! I learned a lot about aviation and I'm in the industry! We enjoyed hearing the volunteers stories.

Amazing representation of US military capabilities. Well done museum with friendly staff and knowledgeable volunteers. Plenty to see - fair amount of stairs. Recommend comfortable closed-toed shoes and sunglasses!

This museum is more than educational information. It is an immersion into navy life on an aircraft carrier. The decents, yellow hats, are retired military who have served at times on the Midway ship. We spent 6 hours exploring the ship & listening to very interesting accounts on how a flight deck operates. I highly recommend this museum.

My family and I visited the USS Midway Museum in downtown San Diego. The museum allows you to explore much of the aircraft carrier with many aircraft spanning much of the 20th Century. The ship is of astonishing size! It’s hard to believe how newer aircraft carriers are typically much larger! The storage bays and deck were easily accessible with a stroller. Some of the side exhibits required going down stairs and through tight corridors. There was personnel scattered across the ship to assist or answer questions. We had a great time and learned a lot of history! One tip I have is since parking is limited, we took the trolley down from Old Town where parking is free and plentiful.

I have a new respect for Navy folk. Tough way to live. And what a marvel of engineering. Tour doubles as a free claustrophobia test. It gets a little tight in some places. And if you are over 6’, you WILL hit your head. Eternal thanks to those who worked and fought on these ships.
