Very nice walking tour of the sights and history (real and apocryphal ) of Verona. Really enjoyed the coliseum and the views of the Adige River. It includes a ride up the tram although a walk down is fairly easy. Be prepared with good walking shoes.

The old town part of Verona is nestled in a bend of Adige River as it winds its way from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea. The Via Mazzini links the Arena with the Piazza Erbe. The Arena predates the Coliseum in Rome and is still used in the summer for theatre and musical productions. The Arena is ringed by numerous restaurants and shops. Via Mazzini is often thronged with crowds and is lined by shops offering high fashion, leather goods, jewelry, perfume, men's fashion, and more. The pace is slow due to sightseers, window shoppers, walking texters, and selfie-takers so if you are in a hurry, take an alternate route. The Piazza Erbe also has plentiful restaurants as well as stalls where you can buy anything from souvenirs to fruit in a cup. Just down the street is "Juliet's balcony" and farther yet is her "tomb", which are truly remarkable in that Juliet was a fictional character. The best view of the old town is from the top of the funicular at Castel San Pietro. The afternoon sun bathes the town in a golden glow. Unfortunately, the town smells like an ashtray due to seemingly everybody is smoking or vaping with no regard for those of us who value what goes into our lungs. If you like raw fish, raw meat, horse stew, donkey or rabbit ragout, tripe, mushrooms, rich sauces, and the ubiquitous processed fatty meats, this is your foody heaven. The minestrone is quite good and fruiti de mere, if you can find it, is also very good. If you want to eat outside in the smoke, go ahead. Do take a look indoors though because what at first seems to be a small eating area often opens up into a lovely repurposed courtyard or a walk downstairs takes you into a delightful cozy space that was once a storage area.

Amazing tour! Exactly what you need if you are in Verona for a few days. Our guide, Moris, was so funny and friendly and informative! He gave us history and culture of Verona and left with many tips what to try and where to go. I have to say that without Moris we would not get to know Verona that well and fall in love with it. We are coming back for the Concert season in Arena :)
