This walking tour offers a unique opportunity to discover the more intimate and pastoral side of Versailles by exploring the elegant Trianon Domain and Marie-Antoinette’s private estate. Away from the grandeur and crowds of the main palace, visitors experience the refined retreats where French royalty sought relaxation and privacy, including the graceful Grand Trianon, the secluded Petit Trianon, and the romantic Temple of Love. The tour also reveals the fascinating personal world of Marie-Antoinette, from the charming Queen’s Theatre to the picturesque Hamlet, a beautifully designed rustic village where the queen enjoyed an idealized countryside lifestyle. Surrounded by tranquil gardens, scenic pathways, and elegant pavilions, this experience provides a rare glimpse into the royal family’s private life while showcasing some of the most enchanting landscapes of the Versailles estate.

The Grand Trianon
Begin your exploration at the Grand Trianon, an elegant pink-marble palace built in 1687 by King Louis XIV as a private retreat from the formality of the main palace of Versailles. Designed as a place for relaxation and intimate gatherings, this refined residence reflects the king’s desire to escape the rigid etiquette of court life while remaining within the magnificent royal estate.
Le Petit Trianon
Continue to the nearby Petit Trianon, a smaller yet equally exquisite palace commissioned by Louis XV and later famously associated with Queen Marie Antoinette. Surrounded by landscaped gardens, the Petit Trianon became the queen’s personal sanctuary where she could enjoy a more private and informal lifestyle away from the strict ceremonies of the royal court.

13000+ steps. This was a good time of the year to go with smaller crowds Paula was excellent and very informative. The best part of the tour was the last hour not sure if that was a bonus or not but our tour was supposed to go 2 hours and the two hours while interesting to hear about was more walking the grounds which was time we could have better spent
