My husband, son and I attended the "Mozart & Vivaldies Four Seasons at the Musikverein" in February. It was an experience which visitors to Vienna should try whether or not you are classical music lovers.

We are not classical music aficionados. We do enjoy the popular classical pieces when performed with other classical entertainment. This was 2 hours of obscure (to us) pieces that went on and on. Plus, the conductor was a self absorbed Prima Donna who seemed to think he was the star that everyone came to see. Almost every piece was arranged to highlight him. We have been to other concerts in Vienna where there was more variety and more recognizable classical pieces and were highly enjoyable.

Not clear on the tickets that this was in the Brahms Room and not the main concert hall. Entry and accessing tickets totally chaotic. Seating on wooden seats, like a 19th century Third class rail coach. No legroom. No air. Just able to see the heads of the players. Audience on their phones. No programme available. Audience constantly fidgeting and changing seats. The playing was good, and the acoustics terrific

The music played in the concert is good for common public. It’s not really for whoever is more serious with classical music, though.

I loved the concert. The golden hall is beautiful, with spectacular acoustics. And the solo violinist was very good.

This was our first classical concert and our first time in Vienna, and it was simply amazing. I wish we had been able to see the opera as well, but for first-timers, this is an absolute must. You could truly feel the love and passion these performers have for their music. They didn’t just play the music — they lived it, and they made us feel every moment of it too.

When you purchase a ticket you are in a section. I booked Category 3 Floor or Balcony. I arrived when the box office opened and was the first person in the door. When I got to the ticket desk, I was told that all balcony seats were gone and only one seat was left on the floor at the back in my section. This means that it is not first come, first served and the person should be prepared to get a seat in the worst part of a section even if they show up early. The venue was beautiful but my seat was terrible so now I know that being in a section is not good and in the future I would only buy a ticket with an assigned seat.
