I was really hoping to love this tour more than I did as it was highly recommended. While the guide was clearly knowledgeable about the artwork, unfortunately they were very difficult to understand and follow throughout the tour. I left feeling like I didn’t get as much context, history, or background information as I had expected and hoped for a VIP exclusive tour experience. The art itself at the Borghese Gallery was incredible, but the overall experience did not feel like a VIP tour. The museum was extremely crowded, and upon entering we were immediately told to leave our bags at the front desk. We had been instructed by Viator to bring our passports, so the museum gave us small plastic bags to carry them while checking the rest of our belongings. The entire process felt disorganized and confusing. At the end of the tour, our guide had not checked all of the group’s bags under the same ticket, which resulted in confusion retrieving them and a stressful situation where we almost did not get our bags back. Overall, for the price, I would not recommend this tour.

We made our reservations about six months in advance. The day before our trip, Viator sent us an email saying that our tickets had been cancelled. We tried to get Crown Tours, who apparently had issued the tickets to find another day and they said they had none. We tried to connect with Viator in several ways to stop them from charging us for the cancelled tickets. And they went ahead and charged us anyway! That’s fraud!

We had a group of about 10 people and an excellent and very knowledgeable guide. The Gallery limits the number of visitors so it is important to get tickets in advance.

The Galleria Borghese is a must see if you visit Rome. It is full of sculptures and paintings, one more remarkable than the next. We had the great fortune to have Viktoria as our guide. She is extremely knowledgeable about all of the works in the Galleria. She also very friendly, approachable and happy to answer questions.
