Paia
No trip to Maui is complete without a trip to Paia, Maui’s coolest little town. Located on the North Shore, Paia started as a plantation town with the opening of Paia Store in 1896 to serve the needs of the multi-cultural plantation workers of Paia Sugar Mill.
Ke'anae Arboretum
Located adjacent to the Pi'ina'au Stream, the Ke'anae Arboretum features terraces built by ancient Hawaiians for cultivating taro, which was a staple of their diet. A paved walkway measuring 0.6 miles runs through the arboretum, showcasing a diverse array of timber, fruit, and ornamental trees from different tropical regions of the world, many of which are labeled with nameplates. With over 150 types of tropical plants, including taro, the arboretum is an excellent spot to observe native flowers and marvel at the vibrant bark of rainbow eucalyptus trees.

Our own personal journey along Maui’s road to Hana. Donovan our guide was on time, informative, accommodating and showed us some beautiful country.

For the most magical day you’ll ever have in Maui (or maybe anywhere else in the world), look no further than the VIP Road to Hana Tour with the Volcano Sunset. Our day was just spectacular. First, we saw sea turtles on the beach at Ho’okipa Beach Park. Then, we stood on the dramatic black sands of Waianapanapa followed by a swim in a lagoon beneath a waterfall. On the road to Hāna, we ate in fresh fish, drank from freshly cracked coconuts, and slurped passion fruit at local stops. Have you ever seen a rainbow eucalyptus tree? We hadn’t. We took a selfie. We also got to meet Nelly the pig, known as the Queen of Hana. She trotted over for pets and sipped from a coconut. Our penultimate stop was on the red sand beach to play in the waves, and the landscapes were otherworldly. Just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we watched the sun sink into the horizon from 5,000 feet atop Haleakalā. David, our guide, was knowledgeable, fun, and deeply passionate about Maui. 10/10 doesn’t even begin to cover it, because this wasn’t a tour. It was an experience of a lifetime. Don’t question the price. Just do it.

It was an amazing experience. Donovan was so knowledgeable about the whole island. He took us the back road and we completed the full loop. This is the tour you should book and you need to ask for Donovan. He made the whole experience incredible.

We did the Road to Hana tour with Experience Hawaii and our guide Cully was amazing. He had so much knowledge about the island, its culture, nature and history. He knew all the best stops and shared so many fascinating stories along the way. We swam under a beautiful waterfall, tasted the best banana bread, explored black and red sand beaches and even visited a stunning cave. Normally I love to self drive, but on this tour it was so much better to have a guide. Cully knew exactly where to go and had so many interesting things to share about everything we saw. The SUV was super comfortable and we also got water and snacks. It was a perfect day and I highly recommend this tour and especially Cully if you want to experience the true beauty of Hana without any stress.

My family and I were so glad that we booked this tour. Shayne was absolutely amazing both as a guide and as an individual. He help us maximize our short time on the island to see and do as much as possible. I would highly recommend. Really appreciated making this a great experience.

We did the Road to Hana & Haleakalā Sunset Private Tour with David, and it was incredible! 🌺 Instead of the crowded tourist stops, he showed us hidden gems, local favorites, and shared his deep knowledge of Hawaiian culture, history, and nature. We saw waterfalls, a black sand beach, sea turtles, surfers, and enjoyed amazing fruit, chocolate, banana bread, and local food. We also got to watch David surf at our stop at a beach! 🏄🌊🤙 The day ended with a gorgeous sunset. 🌅 Ask for David—you won’t regret it!

The tour exceeded our expectations, especially due to the passion and extensive information of our guide Cully. He talked about history, culture, customs, tradition and of course didn't forget to take us to the most beautiful places, hidden beaches, non-tourist highlights and the right places for food (the best bananabread, best fish etc) and drinks. We really got every opportunity to enjoy Mauï, even longer than officially planned with a drop off near the Noordam.

We travelled with our 1.5 year old and were a little worried if it would be a good experience with her. But our guide Coby was amazing - generally in his insights on culture, history, agriculture etc) but also how he helped kept our daughter entertained and happy. He made it a wonderful experience for the whole family!
