Hashima Island
Gunkanjima (軍艦島) is a small island located about 20 kilometers from Nagasaki Port. Until 1974, the island served as a coal mine, and more than 5000 residents called the 480 meter long, 150 meter wide island home, resulting in the highest population density in history recorded worldwide.

The staff was very helpful. Arriving at scheduled time allows for visit to digital museum which was very interesting. The boat tour itself was great. Although completely in Japanese, English translations available made trip very interesting and informative about this historical time in Nagasaki.

We’re made aware that we were unable to land on the island. No English translator but we given and English information leaflets. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and courteous. As no island landing we were allowed to visit to museum close to the landing jetty. Very interesting including virtual reality tours of the island. Fantastic afternoon

Joined a tour of Yamaki Transport online. It was 3,700 yen. The crew has been explaining it to me almost all along. I can't get enough of it at all. I think you should go there once.

I went on a Gunkanjima tour in November 2018. There were multiple tours. "I chose the Gunkanjima Concierge, which I had chosen with the ""Kanjo"" and wanted to show them the ""best"" and which they would put on the best looking ship, and which I would like to announce on its operation." I also chose the most expensive course. I thought I messed up by "putting a face on it", but I didn't win the game. Those who chose the higher course (1) had their turn to get on board earlier (2) when they came near Gunkanjima, we were the only ones who could observe from the deck (3) there was sweets and drinks service. The difference in (2) was significant. It was good to be cost effective. This time, the pier on Gunkanjima was broken due to the typhoon in September, and I was able to land. (>_<) This was unfortunate. We chartered a fishing boat and landed on Gunkanjima, where there were about 10 people fishing. This surprised me. The parking lot shown is far from Gunkanjima Museum. There is a municipal parking lot right in front of Gunkanjima Digital Museum, so it is convenient to use it.

This company ensured we were well looked after. We were the only English speaking tourists on this trip and we did not miss out.
From the time we boarded with our radio guide the staff ensured we were in an area to be able to recieve the signal. This was great as a. wet windy day. We were escorted to a great seat. As we approached the island we were again taken to the back deck to get a better view.
Our boat was well equipped, comfortable and modern. Well worth doing

It was a beautiful day with quiet water, so the best conditions to make pictures and to enter the Battle ship. A unique scenary with a remarkable story behind it. Totally loved it. When you can't enter the island you get 300 YEN backup. I was a bit surprised by that because that would take away a substantial part of the experience. So look for good weather for several reasons. A logical location to be on the UNESCO World Heritage list and so a must see. For those who found they haven't seen enough of the island combine it with the Gunkajima digital museum for which you get a discount when you show your ticket. There you can see buildings up close with 3D goggles. Then this island holds no more secrets. Loved it.
