This tour will allow you to explore the beauty of the southwest of the island in half a day. You will climb the volcano, whose crater is naturally impressive.
Then we will visit the ceremonial town, on the edge of the volcano, where the Birdman competitions were held, which decided the leader of Rapa Nui.
We finish, where the most perfect platform on the island is located, a powerful testimony of the skills and knowledge of the ancient inhabitants, reminiscent of the works of the Inca empire.

What To Expect
This huge crater is a true sanctuary of nature. Formerly it served as the most important source of drinking water on the island, since its lake is made up of 100% rainwater.
Orongo
We visited this ceremonial town on the edge of the Rano Kau volcano, where the deadly competitions of the Tangata Manu, which in the local language means “Bird Man”, took place, which determined which clan would be in charge of the island for a year.

5.00We had three nights at Rapa Nui and all of our travel arrangements and tours were organised through this company. We had four tours … three half days and one full day that took us to the main locations on the island. Our four guides … Maitu, Simon, Nico and Mara were all fantastic. Knowledgable, friendly and took wonderful care of us. Our drivers were also excellent. We appreciated the clear communication regarding pick up time, how the day/tour would happen. At no point were we left feeling unsure about our stay. I highly recommend this tour group. We particularly enjoyed our hike to the top of Teravaka on our last morning … a wonderful opportunity to see the island with 360° views.
