Odawara developed as a castle town ruled by the Hojo clan during the Sengoku period, and this land has nurtured a culture of “sound” alongside the lives of its people. Wadaiko (Japanese drums) have served as signals for festivals and as a means to boost morale, connecting castles, towns, and rural areas. Experiencing wadaiko here is not just about playing an instrument—it is also an opportunity to connect with Japanese history and everyday life. Omura Musical Instruments, having supported local music culture for many years, presents the authentic wadaiko culture in an accessible way, rather than as a tourist performance. This is a special experience unique to Odawara, where history and resonant sound come together.

I had a great experience playing wadaiko in Odawara. I stayed at a hot springs inn in Hakone and then went to Odawara Castle to see samurai and ninja, and it was fun because I felt Japanese culture and history.

It was my first time participating. I was engrossed in playing the drum and the next thing I knew, time was passing so quickly. It wasn't until I hit the vibrations of the drums coming to my stomach that I really understood.

It was fun. The teacher is kind. He taught me not only how to hold the bee and how to hit it, but also the rhythm in an easy-to-understand way. It was a great experience to see the difference in the loudness and sound of the taiko drums that the teacher played right in front of me.

I had always been interested in wadaiko, but it was hard to take the first step. I was introduced to the group by an acquaintance, but I learned a lot about taiko, its roots and other things I didn't know. It was really nice to experience wadaiko in the historic city of Odawara.

A unique experience. I had already attended several taiko shows, always with great pleasure! It's really a powerful instrument. Having this opportunity to experience taïko yourself for a moment is truly an unforgettable memory. To do for all lovers of Japanese culture!

I booked this wadaiko experience so that my friends who had come to visit from Austria could taste the unique Japanese culture. It's about a 10-minute walk from Odawara Castle, so it's perfect for tourist information for foreigners, and my friends were very happy to see the wadaiko for the first time.

I experienced it with my friends. The teacher was very bright and enjoyed the experience. It was my first time playing taiko, but he taught me how to hold it carefully, so it was good to know. Also, if I have the opportunity, I would love to ask.

I experienced it with three family members. I was surprised by the sound of the big drum, but the instructor was easy to understand and I enjoyed hitting more than I thought, please again
