Step into the birthplace of modern New Zealand on this full-day group tour to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds - where history, culture, and nature unite in a powerful and memorable experience.

It begins with a pickup from the 4 hotels listed in Auckland CBD, then a drive north through rolling countryside, past native bush and charming towns, toward the stunning Bay of Islands. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour of New Zealand’s most significant historic site, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840. Explore Te Kōngahu Museum, with its moving stories and interactive Treaty exhibits, and visit Te Rau Aroha Museum, which honours the military service and sacrifice of Māori.

A traditional Māori cultural performance brings the experience to life through haka, song, and storytelling. You will also see Ngā Toki Matawhaorua, the world’s largest ceremonial waka.

After this enriching journey into Aotearoa’s heritage, return to Auckland CBD with lasting insight into New Zealand’s identity.

  • Small group tour to Waitangi Treaty Gounds - great cultural experience

We went on this one day excursion to the Waitangi Treaty grounds with Auckland and Beyond Group to learn more about the Mauri culture and it did not disappoint. The trip was long but the experience was worth it. The guide was on time and knowledgeable and kept us entertained during the drive. There even were snacks and water on the bus and the free wifi was a bonus. Good trip, good guide and can recommend it.

The travel to and from the Waitangi Treaty Grounds gives an overview of the country’s landscape. Aden, the tour driver, was great! He talked about the country’s history and its plants and animals native to the country. The Waitangi Treaty Grounds tour was also great. I learned about the area’s history and the complex role the British played in it.

Simon was our driver guide for the 3 hour, each way, trip from CBD. He is a wealth of New Zealand history and trivia. He broke up the long trip with stops for snacks, photo ops and rest areas. You won’t be disappointed with him as your driver/ guide.
