This is a medium/easy hike of 7 kilometers (4.35 miles) around one of the largest volcanic craters in the Azores, Caldeira do Faial.
It's a perfect way to enjoy the fantastic landscapes inside this giant crater and see some parishes that exist around the island.

5.00This was a beautiful walk around the Caldeira. It is a relatively easy walk and as it was a beautiful sunny day we were able to have different perspectives of the crater and the surrounding islands. We are a family of 6 and this was definitely a special day for us. Guide Ramiro was very patient, fun and taught us about the vegetation and culture of the Azores. 100% recommended!!

5.00This was a breathtaking hike but not for the faint of heart. We had actually planned on the caldera descent but then switched to the rim hike bc of the recent rains and concerns about safety . This was not a walk in the park! However there are amazing views to be had along every single step! Part of the hike had the caldera on one side and volcanoes and ocean on the other. Ramiro was a fantastic guide . There was no pressure to be fast . My husband loves photography and this hike was unbelievable for him and we stopped a million times to take photos . Also the wind picked up about halfway through and this made it even more challenging. Ramiro coached us through the tough parts with kindness and expertise. We are in our early sixties and hike moderate trails but this was not your typical moderate trail . It was a unique hike . The fun of travel is to experience exhilarating moments like these ! Would highly recommend using Trilhos_r as a guide in Faial
