What To Expect
Minnewater Lake
What does minnewater mean? This is the Dutch name for the lake, which is made up of two Dutch words: minne, which means both "common" and "love", and water, which means "water". Thus, the most correct translation would mean translating the word minne as "common", since these were the "common waters, community waters, everyone's water" since it was where the old port of Bruges was located, a site closely linked to the city and the daily life of its citizens.

The beguinage is one of the most representative complexes of Bruges, a prelude to what you will find in this magical city, an environment anchored in the Middle Ages immersed in a sea of tranquility. In addition, it is declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

4.00We had a great walking tour with our guide Maria but the weather was drizzly & cold towards the end especially when we did the canal tour! The tour started a few mins late as it was a big group which was split between two guides.Maria’s narration was funny & informative. The downside was the hundreds of tourists on the narrow streets & it’s not even summer yet .

5.00This review is more about how Viator handled a misfortunate situation. Somehow my husband and I missed the meet up with the tour guide. We still don't understand what happed. We were at the meeting spot at least 15 mins prior to the tour beginning. After a few calls to and chats with the Viator, we tried to catch up at next stop on the tour but never found the guide. Viator refunded the cost of our tour and also provided two vouchers, one for a boat ride and one for the beer experience. We were disappointed that we missed the tour but happy that we were able to do the boat ride and beer tasking. Viator provided very good customer service.

2.00Poor English. Difficult to follow. No radio sets, because of big group. A number of historical locations missed, or lack of information. Boat tour is separate from walking tour and was good. Beer tour at the beer museum, separate from tour. These can be organised independently.
