Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
For this tour we wake up and leave early in the morning at 05:00 - 05:10 am. and drive up into the mountains to visit the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple ( A Chiang Mai Land-mark.) We highly recommend visiting this famous temple at dawn. The temple is quiet and the monks are just chanting, rousing and going out to receive alms offerings. Without any crowds you can enjoy the magical morning light and incredible views in serenity. It is the beginning to a great and wonderful day. Doi Suthep temple is located on the peak of the Doi Suthep Mountains and is the most famous landmark in Chiang Mai. They say you have not truly been to Chiang Mai if you have not visited this temple ! At the top of the temple you can view the pagoda shining with real gold, and a viewing platform offers panoramic views of the whole Chiang Mai City – take in the wonderful countryside landscape while the sun rises behind the city and mountains. The morning sky and view could be immortalized in a beautiful painting ! Morning life at the temple is unforgettable -the sound of temple bells, monks chanting and the fascinating view of Chiang Mai will fill your heart. Don’t leave Chiang Mai without this impression.!!! Before we continue to the other sites, we will have a nice and original taste of famous and delicious Chiang Mai food. Perfect tour! Hotel pick up and drop off was smooth. The temples were fascinating. Our guide was very knowledgeable and warm. His English was also good. He explained a lot and answered questions. We even joined to a session with actual monks!

Wonderful tour and our guide was absolutely amazing. He took the time to explain everything at the temples and also ensured we knew what to expect during the ceremonies we go to be a part of on the tour. It was great to see three different temples as well. Would highly recommend

Great experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and articulate. I love that he has first hand experience being a monk something he draws on the guide.

Our guide Tu was excellent and very easy to understand. The tour itself was a highlight of our trip and highly recommended. Bring a lightweight jacket or sweater as it is cool in the morning. And wear good walking shoes as the initial 306 steps wouldn't be great wearing sandals.

A magical morning that was out of this world!! We are so grateful and happy to have been able to experience alms giving to the monks, chanting and praying, a blessing and see the beautiful temples. Our tour guide (the ex monk) was so knowledgeable, lovely and friendly. We learnt so many interesting and incredible things about Buddhism, the temples and the monks. We would recommend this to everyone, the 4am wake up is worth it. Thank you so much!

Very disappointing experience. We had very high expectations for this tour. Watching the sunrise at a famous temple with a former monk sounded like a unique, spiritual, and meaningful experience. Unfortunately, the reality was completely different. The entire tour felt poorly organized from the very beginning. We were not properly informed about how to dress, which is extremely important when visiting temples. Everything felt rushed, commercial, and forced — not spiritual at all.. There was no real sense of peace, connection, or authenticity. The temples themselves were beautiful and impressive, but sadly, that was the only positive part. The guide often left us alone without explanations, context, or storytelling, which made the experience feel empty and confusin Overall, the experience did not match what was advertised, and it felt more like a rushed, commercial photo stop tour rather than a meaningful cultural or spiritual journey.
