On our Wellington hiking tour, we will take in sweeping rural, city, and coastal vistas, with views stretching as far as the Kaikōura Ranges, Marlborough Sounds, Wellington City and Harbour, and the Tararua and Orongorongo Ranges as you journey from south to north in the Wellington region.
From start to finish, we make your experience seamless. Your local guide will handle all the logistics, lunch, water, sunscreen and a post walk ice cream – while sharing stories of New Zealand’s history, culture, and everyday life in Aotearoa. All you need to do is walk, explore, and enjoy.

5.00I joined a Walkington walk with Alex and it was exceptional. Alex is a thoughtful, warm and organised host who clearly cares about the experience she creates. From the first communication through to the walk itself, everything was managed with calm professionalism and genuine hospitality. The routes were chosen with care, beautifully paced and tailored to the group. Alex’s local knowledge brought the landscapes to life. The walk elements were seamless. Logistics were handled without fuss, timings were sensible, and she ensured we had moments to rest, reflect and connect. 5.00What a truly beautiful walk across the Wellington skyline with Alex, the owner and guide of Walkington. We joined the Wild Skyline hike in December and were lucky with clear skies, gentle weather and stunning views the whole way. The day was very well organised, with transport, timing and lunch (& ice cream!) all taken care of, which made it easy to relax and fully enjoy the experience. Alex is a fantastic host - calm, knowledgeable and genuinely attentive. She struck the perfect balance between guiding, sharing local insight and giving space to enjoy the landscape. It felt thoughtful and personal rather than rushed or overly "toury". A really memorable way to experience Wellington’s wild edges. 5.00What an absolutely beautiful walk across the Wellington skyline with my travelling companions and Alex (our guide and owner of Walkington). We went in November (spring) and had lovely weather, clear skies and a light breeze. It was very well organised in terms of transport and the host Alex really did a great job. She was super helpful and really made the day enjoyable. We will be back in the Autumn ‘26 and will definitely use her guided services again for the escarpment. Declan
