The day begins with a relaxing 30-minute drive from Auckland, entering the tranquil rainforest of the Waitakere Ranges. These ancient hills, remnants of long-extinct volcanoes, are home to a variety of native New Zealand flora, including giant tree ferns and towering kauri trees. Your first stop is the Arataki Visitor Centre, perched high on the ridge, offering spectacular panoramic views of the rainforest and Auckland’s two harbors. This cultural hub also features traditional Māori carvings, where your guide will share the significance of these works and their connection to the land.
