Experience the thrill of whale watching in Tromsø onboard the very comfortable catamaran MS Gabriele. It is also the fastest boat which means we get to the whales faster and can spend more time observing them. The most common species seen around Tromsø are the humpback whale, orca (killer whale), and sometimes the fin whale. Humpback whales are known for their acrobatic displays, often breaching and slapping their tails on the water, while orcas, with their distinctive black-and-white pattern, hunt in packs and are a sight to behold as they glide through the waves. Occasionally, lucky visitors may spot the elusive fin whale, the second-largest animal on Earth. Marvel at the breathtaking beauty of these incredible creatures as they glide through pristine waters. Don’t miss the chance to create memories that will last a lifetime—book your whale safari in Tromsø today. The tour lasts between 6 to 8 hours to ensure we have enough time to find whales any day and time to observe them.

Note for the travel sick - if your original boat cancels because of bad weather, maybe accept that and chill out on shore, I think this is the poorliest I’ve ever felt. HOWEVER, the guides and staff were super supportive and helpful which was reassuring. Our original trip was cancelled and the guide was walking past and offered space on their trip departing slightly later than ours. Our original company hadn’t sent out the cancellation email until around the time we were due to depart so we were kitted out, ready to go and then had the rug pulled out from under us. Getting a seat on the Gabriele was great luck, and saved our day. We hit a particularly rough patch about 20/30 minutes from leaving which was obviously why the other trip had cancelled. Sick bags were promptly handed round and collected back in via bin bag once used. It lasted what felt like a lifetime but I fell asleep towards the end and by the time I woke up, we were being called outside for a pod of orcas. The guide was excellent in moving people around so we all got chance to see clearly and take pictures. A humpback then appeared in the distance and we drifted towards it to get a closer look. The guide was incredibly knowledgable and kind, offering hints and tips for getting the most out of tromso on our way back to dock. All in all, it was a terrifying, excellent day out. Would do again, though maybe buy some sea sickness tablets ahead of the journey!

This is one of the best days out I, and my family, have ever had. We departed at 9am sharp, and our tour guide was absolutely brilliant, teaching us about whales, orcas and interesting Norwegian facts during our journey out to the whales. We were lucky enough to see humpback whales, a whole pod of orcas and a sea eagle. Even if you don’t see any whales though, the scenery through the Fjords is spectacularly breathtaking, and the tour guides are so informative and interesting. The seats are so comfy and there is a handy snack and coffee bar on board. Thoroughly worth the money, a fantastic day. All facilities are immaculate as well! Plenty of blankets if you get chilly. I recommend sitting towards the rear of the boat by the window if you get sea sick but I was absolutely fine on board with just a sea sickness band ☺️

MS Gabrielle offered a friendly and warm atmosphere with the chance to view multiple pods of Orcas! We had our pre booked tickets cancelled by the Brim Explorer due to poor weather conditions without availability for rebooking before we flew back. This all happened on the day we were travelling from London to Norway, upon arriving we quickly found availability on the MS Gabrielle and are SO glad we did! Highly recommend booking with them ☺️

Amazing day out, in addition to finding spots where we saw both humpback whales and orcas, the tour guide spent a lot of time answering the million questions from my children.

What a wunderfull trip! The guides were so very kind, clever and funny throughout the 9 hours we were on the boat. Eventhough it was very early in the season, we saw both Ocras and Humpback whales very close to the ship! YEAH! Just go!

Very knowledgeable staff and although the whales didn't come out to play a lot, the orcas fins and a hump back whale breach was seen by some people on the cruise.

The guide was very knowledgeable! We got to see a pod of Orcas and two sets of Humpback whales on the trip. The ship we were on had a front deck, upper back deck, and lower back deck. Make sure to wear your extra warm clothes as it is a lot colder out on the water with the wind (we went in early January). Highly recommend purchasing Dramamine if you get motion sick, they sell the sea bands but my wife started to feel a but faint even with both the meds and bands. The tour takes most of the day but you get to see lots of pretty scenery. We even got to see one of the Norwegian salmon farms on the way back. The trip did not provide free food, but the food on the boat was not over priced. On our trip they sold traditional Norwegian candy that my wife and I shared with a cup of ramen and some snacks we had also packed for the trip.

What an amazing trip! Unfortunately we were too late in the year for whales but knew it was a long shot, however this didn’t detract from what a wonderfully comfortable boat the MS Gabrielle is, warm, super comfortable and the crew were amazing going all out to make it the great trip it was, our guide Vincenzo was so lovely and super knowledgeable about the area, friendly and keen to answer any questions such a lovely guy, we stopped at an island to see white tailed eagles which were wow! And some fantastic other sites I would totally recommend this trip and crew thanks again Vincenzo my ‘posh’ friend 😊👍🏻

Whales were not available but the substitute was over-sold. Significantly fewer birds and animals were seen than promised and the fishing village had nothing to offer.
