Admire mysterious underground lakes, chapels, shafts, dozens of chambers, labyrinth of corridors, statues and sculptures – all carved out of the salt rock by the miners in the past 600 years. We invite you to the real world of wonders! The Wieliczka Salt Mine was inscribed onto the First UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage List in 1978. It reaches a depth of 327 meters and the mine passage is almost 300 km long! The Salt Mine continuously produced kitchen salt from the 13th century until 1996, being one of the world’s oldest operating salt mines. Every year it is visited by over one million tourists, being undoubtedly one of the most frequently visited sites in Poland. There are no appropriate words to express the mystery and beauty of the Wieliczka Salt Mine… you just have to see it!

This is an excellent tour which by far exceeded our expectations. It was very well organised and communications with Prime Tours Krakow was first rate. We were picked up from our hotel by Ralph who was very knowledgable and had excellent English. He gave us so much information on our way to and from the salt mine, pointing out significant points of interest and the history behind them. Wieliczka Salt Mine itself is stunning. It involves a lot of walking (just over 2 hours) but it’s worth every minute, including chapels and statues carved by the miners, chandeliers made from rock crystals and an underground lake. Ralph was waiting at the end of the tour to take us back to our hotel. We were so impressed with this company that we booked another tour with them for later in our week’s stay in Krakow.

Ralph pointed out many historical spots on our drive and gave us great dinner recommendations in Krakow. We were early and he was able to get us on an earlier tour

We booked 2 day trips with Prime Tours and could not have been more impressed with the service we received. Prime tours made the whole experience seamless. Both our drivers were great. Tomas is the best tour guide I have ever come across, he was absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable. From start to finish prime tours organised everything to a tee and made the whole process very easy and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend to anyone planning a visit to Krakow.

Tomasz our private driver for the trip was on time, very friendly and informative about the area and took excellent care of us. The drive to the mine was relaxed and once there he showed us to the queue where we needed to be and sent us the tickets to get in. He was waiting for us when we came back out and was happy to stop off for pit stops whenever needed. Fabulous day out and would thoroughly recommend.

The salt mine was a wonderful experience like most have mentioned, but I have to add, the cafeteria before the exit was amazing!

This was our second tour with Prime and again highly recommend. Rafal took us out to the salt mine, had our tickets organised , no waiting! He was ready waiting for us when finished and took us around the ghetto and Schindlers factory. Great tips for enjoying Krakow and very informative about the local area.

An amazing place to visit. A must if you’re in Krakow. I highly recommend this tour operator for their professionalism and flexibility. Tomasz, our driver, went above and beyond providing great conversation during our trip from the hotel to the mines and back. Be aware that tour operators only provide the transportation. The actual tour inside the mines is organized by the site operator. Be also prepared to walk a lot!
