In July 2024, a massive wildfire ripped through Jasper National Park, ravaging over 33,000 hectares of land. A year later, the 55-million-year-old land, without its canopy of leaves, reveals recovering flora, returning wildlife and a healthy future.
On Wildfire Peak-Nic, you will be hiking 4 KM through the severely impacted site of the Complex Wildfire to one of Jasper’s prominent peaks. As your guide leads you through new growth forest emerging from the ash, you will learn to identify various species of plants, wildflowers and mushrooms, learn about history, geology, forestry, wildfires and observe wildlife from a safe distance. Once at the peak, you will take in 360-degree views of the different yet stunning vistas for miles and learn about the roles and benefits of a wildfire over a hot lunch with your guide.
Beautiful in its own way, this is one-of-a-kind experience and a unique immersion into the aftermath of the powerful forces of nature.

What a great find. Estelle was our guide and she was more than knowledge about the impact of the fires, the future of the land and the impact on the community. The hike is definitely adventurous - so you’ll be worn out after but in a great way. The views are stunning and the lunch was a perfect addition. It is clear that this company cares for the land and is a great steward bringing tourism to enjoy it!

The Wildfire hike was fabulous. Have a different understanding and appreciation of maintaining the forest and the purpose of these fires. Our guide, Nic, was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided an eye opening hike along with beautiful views and a delicious lunch. It was encouraging to see the start of regrowth. Would highly recommend this tour. Thanks Nic!!!

Very interesting hike in wildfire area, so much to learn and see. Estelle came to pick us up at our hotel, the Forest Park. From there it is a short drive to the parking of old Fort Point, where the trail of easy to moderate level starts. It takes 2 hours, nice pic nic included, we enjoyed every second of it, hearing Estelle talk about the Town, nature, wildfire and answer all our questions about Canada. Its reassuring to see how nature regenerates.

Jasper is back! The fire did an extensive bit of damage, but as this tour showed, the forest is on the rebound and there is plenty to see and do. Our guide Nick was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, which made this hike a truly amazing experience. The hike included a picnic lunch of homemade soup and a sandwich. Really good food and the view from the top of Old Fort mountain was spectacular. The hike takes about 2 hours and is a gentle walk to get to the top of the mountain. We are both in our 60s and had no issues getting around on the trails.

We visit Jasper every year, and we needed to go again this year - to help support the community after the devastating wildfire last year. This tour gives you an up close and personal view of a tiny portion of the impacted area. The trail here has been cleared, and it is a very safe way to see first hand, and have explained, the ecology of a wildfire, how the regrowth is happening, and learn a little about the fire. Our guide Nick was excellent - I cannot say enough good things about how he conducted the tour. It was a cloudy cool day, and the hot lunch was certainly appreciated once we got to the summit. The pace was perfect. There is a short steeper part of the trail, but it should be doable by anyone who has even the most basic mobility. We were the only 2 people in the group, but I'm sure this will get busier in the summer.
