Wilpattu National Park is the largest and oldest park in Sri Lanka. The park is located in the north-western lowland arid region of Sri Lanka, about one hundred and eighty kilometers north of Colombo. Sri Lanka's largest national park is one of the outstanding parks that attracts tourists from all over the world with its wildlife spectacles, especially the leopard paradise. Apart from leopards and bears, you can also get glimpses of spotted deer, barking deer, jackals, sambar, wild boar and buffalo on a Wilpattu safari.

What To Expect

Wilpattu National Park is one of the most famous destinations for watching leopards and bears. Not only for that but it is also a great place to see many other species of animals. All animal species belong to 25 genera and 16 families, including rodents, bat species, ungulates, civets, primates, mongoose species, leopard (Panthera pardus), jungle cat (Felis chaus). Elephant (Elephas maximus), Black Naped Rabbit (Lepus nigricollis), Golden Foxes (Canis aureus) etc. These people also get a special place

We had an absolutely fantastic morning safari with Subhash. He’s extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and clearly loves his job! Subhash knows all the routes to take that wouldn’t be as crowded with other jeeps and is able to spot animals while he is driving, so we were able to have some incredible (and calm!) moments with elephants and their calves. We also saw a jackal, a brown fish owl, water monitor, crocodiles, peacocks and many other types of bird. Highly recommended!
