We spent about two hours being driven around Windhoek, but we found ourselves having to press our guide for information. Unfortunately, he didn’t seem very knowledgeable and appeared more interested in wrapping up the tour quickly than providing a comprehensive experience. Overall, it was not worth the money.

Guide and driver were really nice and knowledgeable. There was some confusion over the itinerary but cleared up after our first stop. The van was blowing hot air which was uncomfortable so we opened the windows. Not all opened but we were able to make it work.

Our guide Shaka picked us up on time after our short-notice booking and gave us an unforgettable tour of Windhoek. Shaka is very friendly and respectful. He told us a lot about the history of Windhoek and took us to interesting places, which helped us better understand the situation in Namibia. Shaka is highly recommended!

The tour guide never arrived without notice and never resounded. Trying to obtain a refund through Viator.

I'm going to start off with BlueBerry Travel does not have great reviews - so this was a bit of a gamble. But I set up booking 1 week before and then called their offices about pickup details. I was rebuffed and told I had to go through Viator for confirmation. So, I sent a message through Viator asking about pickup with information about my location. 2 days before, I got message through Viator confirming the tour, but not pick up validation. So I sent 2 more messages about pickup with info about my location requesting confirmation. Day of tour 7:45 waiting for 8:00 pickup 8:00 call offices, they promise to arrange a taxi and return call 8:26 call back, get passed 3 times to different people, phone service died 8:32 call back with more cell service minutes, speak with attendant about driver. 8:36 receive sms with drivers number 8:52 call driver who says he will arrive in 10min 9:09 call driver who says he arrived at the head office of Blue Berry Travel because he thought that was the address of pickup. Driver asks for sms of address and Google map listing. 9:10 send sms and Google map pinpoint to driver 9:36 driver arrived. And it slowly unfolds that he’ll not only be my taxi, but also my tour guide. Technically, he's been hired from another company who services Blue Berry Travels. But actually he’s a taxi driver. And as the tour went on, it became very apparent he's not a tour guide. We started with a visit to the National Independence Museum (beautiful murals, historical sculptures, but really just a collection of photographs with minimal captions. It is not a museum in the traditional sense as it does not tell a story, it merely presents arts and photos from historical moments) My guide merely walked alongside me through the museum, read a handful of captions out loud and sometimes knew some important people. At times we were both confused. But we did our best to make sense of things and joke around. Then we visited the next-door Alta Feste old German fortress - which has the genocide memorial on the outside. Again, my guide did not know any information about the images, but merely read the caption aloud. So I shared with him what I read in the guide book. We were both confused. Then we visited just opposite - the National Museum Administration building which is housed in the old German high school. There are old exhibits in the hallways and one room of historical library with scrapbooks of articles and several shelves of books on national history. My guide accompanied me but let me do all the reading and visiting on my own. Then we visited the parliament gardens. We bypassed the gate and walked through the garden. But again, my guide did not know any of the statue’s significance or anything about the gardens or parliament. Then we got back in the car and drove to the Namibian Craft Centre. I bought 2 identical history books - one for my guide and one for me - because neither one of us knew enough history to make a decent tour. In the end, I can say that he was a nice man guy and acommodating to go to these places and drive around. So congratulations to him for being a good sport and trying his best - despite a serious lack of historical knowledge. But shame on Blue Berry Travel for this lacklustre tour. Shame on Blue Berry Travel for enforcing use of the Viator platform but then not communicating back to clients until last-minute for arrangements. In general, I would not recommend Blue Berry Travel OR this tour. My taxi-driver-turned-guide and I did our best to make the most of us - so congrats to us. But overall, it's embarrassingly poor tour and not a good presentation of such an interesting and beautiful country.
