Experience local food, lifestyle, cultures, unique art, tradition and the cultural heritage of Kathmandu. Start by traveling in your private vehicle from your hotel to Swayambhunath – also known as the Monkey Temple as there are holy monkeys living in the northwest parts of the temple. Climb the 365 steps up to the top and enjoy the impressive view of Kathmandu Valley. Experience the morning rituals and chantings. Watch the monkeys frolic around the heritage site and take in the sacred prayer wheels and incense. On the other side of the hill the vehicle will wait for you to continue to Boudhanath Stupa – The 36 meter high stupa is the largest stupa in Nepal, and one of the largest in the world. It is a religious center for Nepal’s considerable population of Tibetans. Enjoy an authentic tibetan lunch here, before continuing to Pashupatinath Temple – the incarnation of Lord Shiva. Let yourself be marveled by the surroundings here among ancient architecture, art, incense, beads and marigolds. It is one of the most important religious sites in Asia for devotees of Lord Shiva. Note that non-hindus and foreigners are not aloud inside the main temple, but can walk freely in the Pashupati area, which in total has 559 big and small Shiva shrines and temples. After this visit you will continue to the traditional heart of Kathmandu, the Durbar Square of Kathmandu. This medieval square is a historical landmark of the valley with many religious temples, shrines and palaces. The old palace here used to be the royal palace and center of power of the kings during the eighteenth century and earlier. There’s a handicraft open market inside the square area with a wide range of things on sale. Also learn about the Living Goddess, Kumari, who has been worshipped in Kathmandu since ancient times. A professional guide will join you on this day. The tour includes private vehicle throughout, including pick up and drop off at your hotel, and will normally take 8-10 hours.

Sarala took care of our every need. She was so accommodating and friendly, she made us feel so at home and at ease. It was our first time in Nepal and we could not have asked for a better introduction to the culture, food and people. If you’re ever visiting Kathmandu, contact Sarala and you will no doubt have a great time.

The best tour of Kathmandu, Nepal in my opinion! Sarala and Shankar (our tour guide) were absolutely the best... You can't go wrong with them. You will definitely feel the warmth and hospitality of Nepal! A must-do when in the country. Plus points: you get to sing nice folks with them!
