Wow, the depth of history shared by Dale, our tour operator, was enlightening and at the same time very solemn. The Jewish Tour from City Walk is not just a "physical walking tour" it is a step back into the times that preceded the holocaust. We did three City Walk tours over the course of our visit, Old Town, Local Food/Vodka and this one, the Jewish Quarter. We loved them all, but if you can only choose one, this is it!

By sheer coincidence we happened upon Dale who was about to start a walking tour. We decided to join and what a great decision that proved to be. He was extremely knowledgeable about the entire city and took us to places we simply would never have found. In the morning we did Krakow Old Town, then in the afternoon it was over to the Jewish Quarter and Ghetto. It was a long day and we were tired at the end of it, but it was better than we could have expected. It’s a free tour with an optional donation. We were more than happy to give generously and would recommend it to anyone wanting a good introduction to Krakow.

Don't need to book just turn up at 2:30 at St Mary's Basilica. Tours are free, but donations gratefully received and very much earnt. We had a great guide - Dale who lives in the area. The tour doesn't include Schindler's Factory but we were shown where it is and Dale told us the history of it when explaining life in the Ghetto. I recommend doing this tour before you visit Auschwitz/Birkenau. It gives background information to enhance your understanding of these places. If you aren't going to the camps this is a great stand alone tour.

It was a fantastic experience with Dale. He made me dissolve in the story of Krakow, feel the history just like it all happens here and now. He made it a 3-hour journey, which was never boring. And he took care of every person on the tour. Thank you! 😍

Dale was incredibly informative and easy to listen to. He brought a real depth of understanding and context to the information he shared and was happy to take any questions. We saw many things that we would likely have missed had we tried to self guide

Whilst this was an excellent tour with a guide who was passionate about Krakow and its history, I would have liked it to concentrate more on its title: World War II and the Jewish Quarter and Ghetto. We were told a huge amount of Krakow history, with more emphasis on overall history than WWII history. We did not go the Jewish Ghetto per se, but did go to the Jewish Quarter. I was hoping to gain greater insight into these areas before a tour the next day to Auschwitz, so from this point of view, it was a little disappointing. I think it would have been better to have met in the Jewish Quarter rather than the Old City as much time was spent walking between the two - perhaps this is why we didn't make it into the former ghetto site. Nevertheless, I came away from this tour with much knowledge about the city and its history and my guide was extremely professional and well versed to conduct this tour.

If you visit Krakow and don't take this tour, and it's sister tour of the Old City, you're missing the point of visiting such a historic and fascinating city. I most highly recommend that you book with Dale, a transplanted Brit who brings the city's history to life with passion, professionalism, and a great sense of humor. His depth of knowledge and obvious joy in his performances are worthy of the stage, equal to that of a Shakespearean actor. I happened on this tour when I stopped to see the synagogue... I never got inside because once I heard Dale speaking, it was like being entranced by the Pied Piper. I took his Old City tour the next day. I took both tours on cold, rainy days, and not one person left a tour early. I cannot recommend the tours, and Dale, strongly enough. They will enable you to appreciate lovely Krakow at a much higher level. Happy travels!

The group was s little bit to big, but the guide Dale was very good in getting the attention of everyone. Very good and intresting explanations during the tour. Even our 12 and 14 year old gave 5 stars!
