Realizaremos un recorrido en la localidad de Xocén, un pueblo que se encuentra en el centro del mundo, ubicado a unos 10 minutos de la ciudad de Valladolid, Yucatán. La actividad se estará realizando con la ayuda de nuestros guías locales (habitante de la comunidad), por senderos que se conectan con distintas comunidades mayas. Podrás disfrutar y observar de la diversidad de aves existentes, así como de la imponente, mágica y frondosa selva.
Queremos que a través de este tour puedas conocer la importancia de las aves en el planeta, en nuestros pueblos y en su cultura. Créeme que te sorprenderás ¡pero sobre todo lo disfrutaras!
Podremos ver aves como los semilleros, carpinteros, calandrias, pirangas, palomas, trepatroncos, etc.

What To Expect
En el recorrido de naturaleza contamos con apoyo de guías locales de la comunidad para realizar una visita por el sendero Xocén-Kanxoc, un sendero con exuberante naturaleza y donde se han registrado cerca de 200 especies de aves. Durante este recorrido conoceremos la importancia de las aves en el planeta, los pueblos y su relación con la cultura Maya. Se podrán observar especies representativas como: Yellow-lored Parrot, Yucatán Jay, Yucatán Flycatcher, Orange Oriole, Black Catbird, Rose-throated Tanager, Yucatán Woodpecker. A very unique birding experience to connect with Yucatan's nature

5.00Angel provided an incredible experience for birding in the Yucatan. We arrived early in the morning and enjoyed hot coffee and pastries made in the nearby pueblo. While Angel's English is quite good, he let us practice Spanish with him and was very welcoming and happy to answer all of our questions. Over the course of about 4 hours, he took us to different spots to see a wide range of birds while sharing his knowledge of the various species. He provided binoculars in addition to the ones we had and would also set up his scope to view stationary birds in more detail. It was a very unique way to connect with nature and the tour fee helps support Angel and his collaborators to build ecotourism and educational opportunities to support the small community of Xocen. We would definitely do this again!

5.00My partner and I completed a wonderful morning (~7am - 11am) birding trip with Angel at the Xocén Birding Trail. The cost was 1600 pesos and included a light breakfast in addition to the birding walk. The experience was absolutely fantastic! We had the whole trail to ourselves with the exception of some passing locals. The trail included many habitats including a farm area, dense scrub/forest, and more open scrub (pasture). We saw 47 species that we documented and a few that jumped away quickly without a chance to identify, including a trogon sp! We also saw a white-nosed coto! Angel was a fantastic guide with very sharp eyes and deep knowledge about the location. He speaks excellent English, as well as Spanish and Maya. They also have rooms where you can stay that looked lovely. We would have done this if we had known before we booked our trip because it allows you to jump right in and watch the feeders/bird the area with your morning coffee without spending any time to get there. All in all, I 100% recommend this birding trail to anyone in the Greater Valladolid area. Angel was great and we were able to get 27 lifers after already doing 5 days of self-guided birding in the Yucatán before. Thank you, Angel!

5.00We spent one night at the Xocen Birding Trail cabins and it was wonderful. The cabins are clean and confortable. They have wifi and you’re surrounded by the forest. Incredible place for Birding. I always visit the place and the local expert guides are very helpful and friendly. 100% recommended.

5.00We are very grateful for staying overnight in your rooms! Very comfortable, fresh and cozy! We were welcomed with bird books, binoculars and open arms, we took the opportunity to take our telescope and see some planets and the moon. We had an amazing time both on the night walk, and in the morning looking for birds! We had some good lifers and new friends! Don't forget to accompany yourself with the guide.

5.00We had a fabulous morning birding with Angel! We were looking for a half-day birding tour nearby Valladolid and this was exactly what we had hoped for. We saw over 40 species in just a few hours and got several new lifers. Angel was wonderful to spend the morning with, and he also provided coffee and snacks before we began the walk on the trail. That was such a nice surprise because our early start meant no coffee was ready yet at our hotel. Angel is also very knowledgeable about all bird species with a keen eye and ear for finding them in the wild. He identifies them quickly and easily, but also enjoys staying for a moment to watch them before moving on. I'd recommend him to any birder wanting an adventure in Mexico.

5.00Ángel is an excellent guide for bird watching, I learned a lot during the walk about the local birds and the customs of the Xocen people. I went with my family and everyone was delighted. We want to do the other gastronomy and chocolate tours they offer, 100% recommended.
