What To Expect
This is the country’s second largest and most famous National park for locals and foreigners alike. Situated on the south-East coast of Sri Land it has an area of over 375 square miles. It is made up of five blocks of which two are open to visitors. The Ruhuna national Park and the Kumana bird sanctuary.These two parks are most important for conservation . It has a variety of eco systems ranging from moist monsoon forest to scrub jungle, fresh water wetlands ,and saltwater lagoon and marshlands. It is well stocked with a variety of wild life and is an important conservatory for Elephants ,leopards and Birds. It is known as the area with the highest density of leopard population in the world. Visitors can take a safari trip in the park which is an unforgettable experience. Within the park there are ancient monasteries ,which add to the parks attractions.

5.00An early morning start, 4am pickup from the hotel. So worth it for a magnificent sunrise in Yala reserve. The jeep itself was part of the fun, some serious off-roading! We were so lucky to see 3 different leopards. The best one we were with no other jeeps around us, saw a leopard go into a bush and waited as the safari guide said he might cross in front of us. Sure enough, he was within metres of us as he ran across our path. Very cool moment. We also saw a mongoose, elephants, lizards, buffalo,vdome stunning birds. We had a great time. To top it off after about 4 hours safari we were taken to Red restaurant for lunch, 3 courses. Best food we had outside of the hotel, stunning Sri Lanka curry -7 dishes, be warned. Trip booked on Viator used agent BMT Sri Lanka. Very professional, giving us information through whatsapp. We had a private driver Dinesh who was like lovely and kept us cool with bottled water and a nice air conditioned car. Tip top trip, a highlight of the holiday.

5.00Amazing day out - not to be missed! The whole day was seamless from the pick up at the hotel and transfer to the safari point. Time for a quick coffee then we were off on safari - the team worked really hard to give us the best experience and searched for animals tirelessly. Really enjoyed the private safari - it was just the 2 of us on the vehicle. It is a long day but very worthwhile to be in the national park with the wildlife. No leopards for us but still had a great day.

3.00Lots of apparent random driving with no sharing of sightings with other drivers Dis not see a massive amount of animals - no leopards
